I'm trying to set up the tail of my Trex after a ccpm rebuild. Questions:
1. What Swash plate type should I use in the radio?
I copied from my vigor cs the type "SR-3". is this right?
2. What should I set as the "gyro sensitivity swithch"? My vigor is with the "conditional" switch. Should I copy this?

The reason:
I'm trying to set up the tail. I was under the impression that I need to first set the tail up in normal mode and then flick my gyro sensitivity switch 5 or 6 times to set up a new starting point in HH. Is this right?

The result:
I first start with my gyro sensitivity switch assigned to "F". This leaves me with the following
Rate-Up AVCS- ___%
Down Norm ___%
In this set up, when my switch F is down (normal mode), I can take off and adjust the rudder trim until the tail is solid. I then land and flick the gyro switch F 5 or 6 times to reset the midpoint and leave the switch in the up or HH position. Here I get a solid red light on the gyro telling me it's in HH however, as soon as any throttle input is given, the red light flashes which tels me there is a rudder input but there is not. The heli will wag and turn nose right drasticly trying to fly in HH. If I flick the switch back to nor mode, it flys fine. I've tried different settings for the AVCS and normal all with about the same result.

I then looked at the programming in the radio for my other helis. My vigor has the gyro switch assigned to "condit" which I don't even know what that is but the Idle up swithches assign it.

I feel like I'm carrying on. Can someone post a thread to set up the tail properly with a trex and a 9C. Please also inlude what Swash type you're using. I don't have the manual for my 9C and that is the major problem I think.

Ok. So you are using switch F. When you are in HH mode (switch up), do you have a solid red light on your 401? if so, when you go to spool up, does this light stay solid, flicker?? let me know.

make sure that when you connect the battery the switch is in the HH mode. You will get a solid red light to indicate this. The light will flicker if there is any input, this can be either you moving the stick or the gyro compensating for rotor torque.... so power up in HH, then switch to non HH. Hover and adjust the trim, land and flick the switch 3 times. This should now set the mid point. The percentage numbers are the gain i am setting, you will have to adjust yours up or down to get the best setting (stp tail wag)

Well, I tried what i believe to be everything to figure out this tail issue. I cant seem to get it. I followed the instructions in the link above and can't manage to sort it out. HH is turning nose right on me violently. Any other suggestions?

by the way,
in HH mode, the solid red light does not flicker when compensating for throttle stick input, it stays solid. So spooling up, the light should be solid when the gyro is working properly. Only for rudder stick inputs, flying or not, does the light on the 401 flicker.
THanks for the replies again fellas,
Ron.
