Hello,
I'm struggling to setup correctly the MS116 variator with the "twister-X" motor on my hornet 2.

I'd like to use a "constant rpm" mode on my hornet. So I hook up the ms-116 on ch7 of my Rx. and on the FF9 i activated the "governor" mode. What happens is that below approx. 60% of rpm rate set in the FF9, the motor won't even begin to spin. And once the motor begins to spin, it don't seems to care about the rate set previously (meaning that at 60% or 100%, it seems to spin at the same speed).
I tried this with the ms-116 set in mode 1 (linear speed) and mode 2 (constant speed).

Any idea/Advice why the motor doesn't begin below 60 % ?
What is the best mode (linera/constant) for the ms116 to use in governor programmation ? (I could imagine the answer is "the linear mode")

Because the "governor" attempt didn't wen so good, I finally set up an iddleUp cuvre at 80-80-80-80-80, withe the MS-116 in "linear" mode. Is this a good idea ? When I perform certain maneuvers, will the MS-116 give some extra power when needed ? Or is it better to set up an iddle up at 100-100-100-100-100 ?

thanks for the info !
(sorry for my English, I'm from Belgium)

Have a look at Eric Larson's site. He basically says to scrap the governor more because it can't keep up.

I think the speed controller still stays on channel 3.
not familiar with that speed controller though.

The instructions that come with the esc is a bit misleading. They state that we need an extra channel to use the governor which isn't true.

Re-plug the esc into channel 3 and don't turn on the governor feature in the 9C. Program the esc into governor mode and set flat throttle curves through out to get the governor to work.

For example start with 15-15-15-15-15 in indle up 1. Start it up and once the governor has fully spooled up, tach the headspeed while the heli is on the ground. Increase the throttle percentages until you get your desired headspeed. Then you can fly!
