I have had it with this 3D pro. When its not windy and it is setup it does fly well. Today I set the tail gear mesh and had everything perfect. I took it outside and had a 5min flight and it flew awesome. Put the battery on the charger and put the new landing gear on and tail boom supports and cleaned up the wiring. Went back out to fly and after 30 seconds the tail blew off the boom and I actually was able to land it fairly well. Have no idea where the tail case ( 2nd one I have bought) is or the tail shaft pinion. The main blades have a few knicks in them.

I guess I'm all done with micros. I'm trying to decide if I should put anymore money into it or sell it bare bones as is?? If anybody wants to make me reasonable offer I will sell it as is without any electronics.

I'm off to fly my Logo 10 3D

Sorry for the rant..................

I hear you on these frustrations with micros... i went through the same thing on my hornet..... i then bought a 3dpro... i like it so far but i can't get rid of the infamous glitch.....during every flight this happens once. my friend bought a 3dpro and he hasn;t even hovered it yet....one of the tail rotors flew off as we were try to correct the countertorque...landed in the grass some where.... problem is is that it took part the pitch slider with it....and broke a blade grip... just that i think is a 38.00 repair... i am so glad nitros,(at least mine) don;t have half the problems. Just gas and go....most of the time...

Hi Rerazor,

It's been almost a month since I maidened my Maxir, and I love it! I've already got 10 hours of air-time on 'er! The only problems I've had in that time were:

- the 3 autos (dragging along the motor too) due to what I think was too-tight a gear mesh (motor slipping ahead due to wells in frame side cause by over-tightening once), which overheaded the ESC. There was one repair necessary from an auto that basically ground to a halt 10 feet up - Less than $4.00 for two landing gear legs.

- Once I got the freewheel installed, I tried an auto at 5000+ feet and flared a little high. The boom strike broke the nice $17 plastic blades and dented/bent the alu boom. I straightened out the boom and have continued flying it. The blades had survived hitting the horiz fin and lopping it off and later striking the remaining fin mount on the earlier forced autos with no freewheel

I am utterly amazed at how well this heli handles winds. The other day i did a couple of flights in swirling winds that gusted up close to "blow yer hat off" speeds. I am not kidding! the reason that I bought this heli was that other folks were raving about like I am now

Anyway, except for my blunders, this heli has been rock solid and reliable. It feels like I'm horsing around with my LOGO 10 as I do fast F/F, banking and yanking and then stopping on a dime. Very confidence inspiring.

If you search google for "Maxir", you will see that I'm a MAXIRmaniac now

Cheers!

Glen

All I can say is wow!
I and a friend of mine has been flying the Maxir...it's a great heli in all aspects! I have been through three Trex's and one x-400. I am amazed by the flying characteristics of this small heli that flies like a big nitro! I have seen it tic toc, invert, backward flights and "AUTO" from over 100ft.

Genovia, is Century redesigning the tail??

I hope so because the 3D pro does fly great when the tail is working/setup correctly.

Yes, Century informed me today that a new tail drive is coming out next week. Woo Hoo. Hope it works! Otherwise I'm selling mine and getting a Trex. Their parts markup is only 32% compared to the 3D Pro at 161% !!!

I don't even have to ask, because it's already been planned out. Century have been making helicopters for 17years, the oldest and biggest in the bussiness.

We will get the answer guys

Hang in there guys. The tail cases just need 30 min epoxy, and grips and blades need #2 size washers.

Here is the result. People are so impatient to the point they willing to lose a lot of money selling their birds when the problem can be fixed with less than a $1. You guys do the math. Century's biggest mistake was depending on some of their priviledged, non-micro experienced reps to fix the Pro's problems as the Pro was released to the public. The end result: a lot of them have either gotten rid of the bird or shelved them. And alot of the once loyal general public has fled to TREX. That is Century's fault.

I mention the reps here because of the big stink some of them raised way back when the pre production pics were leaked out by their own team members:

http://www.runryder.com/t133828p1/

How much helpful info have the bulk of these guys posted? Don't get me wrong, some have been helpful, but I was hugely dissapointed the with the behavior of some of these so-called newcomer reps to the micro world. Don't boast about benefits! Produce results!! Why are so many people selling their Pros?

The Pro is good heli that flies great with a few cheap-as-dirt mods.

Micros problems should be left for those love them the most for solutions; and everybody should listen to reason. Nobody excluded. This practice is what keeps everybody happy, and successful.

Lift, thanks for the epoxy on the gear box tip.

The tail is rock solid for less than $1.

Video of tail's performance post tail mods.

Shun, you have been busy my friend. We will have catch up soon.

Payton was been nice to his running only ~12 deg pitch on the 400DF. I'm running ~ -16 & +16. You haven't seen anything yet. I just wish the winds would die down just a bit around here cause hard a brotha down here on the coast and now its mosquito season.

I look forward to checking out your new fleet.

loganz28,

I finally made the jump and agree flying a "vacum XL" is 100 times better than the 3d Pro. MUCH MUCH cheaper to own and fly. Flys way better in wind and is jsut a better desgined heli.
Sorry guys I'm not trying to bash the 3D pro but to help you all to see the light and move on to a better heli.

If anybody wants to buy my 3D pro for parts cheap PM me.
