Hello all,
Some of you may have followed a previous thread I posted. After several problems I purchased a HiMax2015 - 4100 with a Phx10. I understand the wiring setup, but I am not sure what type of tail ESC I should use.

I HAVE the following in my airplane arsenal:
Electrifly C-10 ESC
GWS ICS50 (4-8cell 2A - no brake)
GWS GS100(5-8 cell 5A - w/brake)
Castle Creations Pixie 20P (5-18 cell)
Hummingboard

1.) Which of these would be best suited to run a DD Tail in conjunction with a PHX 10 with a 3S Lipo ?? Ultimately I would like to get a TREC and a brushless tail, but funds are lacking right now.

2.) Also, as I am more familiar with NiCad/NMHi batteries, I assume these ESCs will work with a lipo setup? I know the CC Pixie 20P will, but what about the others?

3.) I am going to purchase a GY401, however I assume I can still use the stock gyro. I hear people talking about manditory mixing with a non-HH gyro. I assume this means Throttle to Rudder or just Revo........forgive my ignorance....I am a crusty airplane pilot and Revo is throwing me for a loop.

Thank you for any advice!! This forum has been great so far.....hopefully one day I will be able to contribute more rather than ask so many questions..........

Do not use "GWS GS100(5-8 cell 5A - w/brake)"
With the 3s Lipo, a brushed tail motor will not last long in my experience (1 mo or less) using the GWS ISC 50 - 300. A TREC is better.

You must have 5 Point Rev mixing on your Tx. See this link on seperates:

What I recommend is get the GY240 and a bare bones 3D Pro if money permit. You have the HiMax2015 - 4100 with a Phx10. I was in the same fix as you 2 months ago. Trying to decide on a TREC, or BL tail. I went with the BL tail and another cc10. I got it to flying after a little main motor trouble and finding the right tail rotor. 3 weeks ago I managed to sqeak out some extra cash and bought the 3D pro. No more brushed tail motor failures. Just a tail rotor due to anxiety! The only weakness I see in the 3D Pro at this time is the landing gear.

Now my BL Elite CP is hanging from the ceiling, waiting for the Pro to crash and burn.
