The deal is done, I am now HIGH SPEED!!! it was a great feeling calling AOL and telling them to shove it (they did offer me 6 months free...yeah right!) I spent the next 4 hours cleaning my confuser of all the crap they figured they would install on my PC....now my fast internet runs even faster!!! thanks for the link on the adware gonna have a go at it, I just heard this afternoon they catch alot more than spybot (which I use) does gonna run em in tandem catch all the little buggers....my poor PC has been booted and rebooted so many times tonight it isnt even funny!

comcast here and love it. AOL is for people that dont understand computers. thats why everything is so "easy" and laied out, strores so much of your personal information and installs so much crappy spyware.

dumping AOL also saves you about $25.00 a month which can be applied to a HS connection .

Got my DSL through Ameritech (now SBC). It's nice having my service through the phone company because the bill is combined, and the DSL service is better. If there is a problem, it is all their system, and you don't have the typical "it must be your phone line" bit from an off company, or the "it must be their server" from the phone company.

Being in the IT industry and working with people who've been on AOL since the big internet explosion... It's amazing how I have to ween them off of AOL and show them how the internet works without it. They pretty much get overwhelmed.
