Has anyone done this? The death spiral doesn't seem to be that popular of a move to begin with so maybe it's just a bad idea Would be fun to watch though!

Thought a ripper was going straight down pirouetting

Sar, are you on about a pirouetting wall of death, but tighter and falling at the same time ?

If I seem to have lost the plot, please ignore me

finally a maneuver i can do......

if you can piro flip you can do this one.

start high piro fliping. but put your pitch to zero while fliping. you can make the heli come down faster or slower by putting + pitch when you would of needed - and vice versa if you get my drift..

Ripper = Tail first vertical straight down.
Piro'ing Death Spiral = can not be done because a Death Spiral is when the heli is sideways sidways using elevator to rotate like a sideways tumbel vertical comming straight down. Piro is using all the axis.

What I mean is, your basic death spiral is 1/4 roll left or right so the heli is on it's side, go 0 collective and pull back or push forward. The heli rolls on the fore/aft cyclic axis as it falls out of the sky on knife edge. As you near the ground roll left or right 1/4 revolution to return to normal flight.

Now.. add the piro'ing tail into the mix. I imagine this would keep one pretty busy on the cyclic to maintain the death spiral while the tail swings around.

And I don't mean piro-flip or chaos when I say piro'ing. Just the tail spining clockwise or counter-clockwise.

Also you wouldn't be able to gain altitude, the heli would be knife edge during the whole maneuver.

Hi

So wouldn't that just be piro rolls but done vertically?
I did sort of do this a number of years back but as my normal piro rolls were not that great, trying to do them but in effect rotated though 90 degrees and coming down at speed I couldn't keep it neat at the time.

Cheers

Yeah I guess it would be free fall piro-elevator-rolls It would look pretty good and I was hoping with all the 3D maniacs out there someone might have tried it and had it on video somewhere.

How about a visual aid? Apoligies for the junky helicopter but it was a quick do up.

Very Smart graphics!!!

So like a descending knife-edge piro flip that is timed to put the nose at the correct position (ala death dive) per 360 degrees?

I think this may take a Top Bod to create a 'defined' enough manouver to be able to witness the pilots true intentions

I will look out to see if anyone goes for it a 2005 3DM
