I am trying to get my old C30 going again (without the manual) and have hit 2 snags and am looking for help. I am a new user here, so if I get out of bounds somewhere it is not intentional. I hope to be of some use to others here as well in the future. Airplanes I do know a little about (r/c and full scale)

Q1: The seesaw arms will rotate on the main shaft about 15 degrees
if you hold the head and gently twist the arms. Is this normal? We
tightened the 2 screws that appear to hold it in place, but no
change.

Q2: I need to locate the 2 bearings in the clutch bell, but find almost no
source of Kyosho parts. Does anyone know whether a supplier like
Boca Bearings (or even local NAPA parts house) would have
these?

It will be Wed. morning before I will get to check back in, but I WILL appreciate any and all replies/help.

Thanks,
Roy

Hello , It sounds like the plastic guide for the pitch slider is worn that is where the rotation is coming from . Mine has some slop . My heli flys O.K. but I'm sure it is not as precise as it could be. Rick's R/C Helicopters has a link on the Runryder Homepage, they carry a good selection of Concept parts. Tower Hobbies has some stuff also. I buy from Rick's if I have a choice. Hope this helps , Daniel

Check the mast stopper screws. These are adjusted through the hole in the elevator lever.

The clutch bearings can be found at Rick's. They're part number H3222 .

Leif and Daniel,
Thanks to both for your input. We're working on the main mast trying to figure it out. The p/n on the bearings is perfect. It looks like Rick's is the place for C30 parts. Looked a couple of weeks ago at Tower, and they only had 2 or 3 parts left in stock. I also found several parts on EBAY, but would rather buy from a supplier who supports this forum.

If anyone knows where the manuals are as a .doc that would be great also.
Again, many thanks.

As far as the manual goes, you'll need to first determine which Concept model you have. They came in a number of different versions.

DX, SX, SR, SRT, VR, etc.

Roy, you can download the manual from rchelibase.com/concept

I started out with a Concept 30 SX and it flies well. I'm setting up an old SR 30 for 3d, so I don't have to crash my raptor 50 while I'm learning.

Again you guys come through. I'm trying to tell which model I have, but can't find any identifying marks on it. I bought it new in about '87 and THINK it is SE or SX. I ordered the upgraded version with ball bearings, but can't remember more. Wanted to be precise because of snail speed dialup here at home to download the manuals off the rchelibase website.
Can anyone clue me in to specific identifiers on the chopper?

I think what you have is an SE since you have the bearings upgrade...I believe the SX came out a little after 87' right before the SR came out. The DX was the first and base model.

I had the DX which made all the transitions...It's now an SR-X with zeal upgrades.

BTW, I think the SX had the sleeker body than the DX or SE. Why don't you post some pics up?

Would love to post pix, but haven't bought a digital camera (yet). Keep spending too much on these da#@%d planes and helis!
I'm guessing it is the SE, because it has a "fat" canopy, not a sleeker, more modern looking design.

I would like to keep the C30 flying long enough for my 19yr old son and I to reduce the learning curve damage to a nice 50 or 60 size bird later.I did get a lead on a nearly complete airframe today for parts, in addition to Rick's. Maybe we won't burn up all the spares before we learn!

We just came in from flying our GWS Mini Dragonfly. This thing teaches a lot about chasing a heli around the sky, 3 seconds behind it! So far, in about 5 weeks of flying, we've (only) torn up 3 sets of skids, 2 tail rotors and 1 flybar. Oh well, maybe the C30 will be a better teacher!

Thanks Balbs, for your help, too. Now I'll go wait 25 minutes for dialup to download the manual......

Bearing Equivalent
The clutch bearing is the same as the Traxxas Revo Wheel Hub Bearing... Not sure of number. I use it and it works great. Alot of hobby stores have those.
