Hi, anyone here got their main gear one-way bearing cracked?

I fly mild 3D and do maneuvers smoothly.

Found out the other day while flying that my main one-way bearing slipped... inspected it and found a lengthwise crack and another hairline crack on the side...

What could've caused the one-way to be damaged?

Thanks!
Ludwig

Do a search here, for "Augusto's grease mod". Lots of good one way info there.

I recently lost one on my EVO! Blew out in the middle of a tail stand launch - bad timing!!! It took me forever to figure out what had failed.

Hi Lewd,

The Evo and Freya one way bearing (same part number 0414-309 E3 AUTO ROTATION CLUTCH ASSY used with 2500-048 BEARING ONE WAY 12x16L) wear out quite easily in the exact same fashion as you described. They are especially susceptible when you are constantly practicing autos and you abort. There will be quite a heavy strain on the bearing and a tell tale "leaning out" sound of the engine. This has happened to 3 evos at my field already, all practicing autos with lots of aborts. The grease mod is simply a matter of packing the bearing in grease (inside and outside) before inserting it into the SD autorotation case.

Hope that helps.

how long do these last?? one mentioned 60hrs, is there a way to check, preventitive maint. etc?? i see the grease mod, going to do that. I just upgraded my 30 to a 50, and this particular ship is a couple years old, and last thing i need is a crash. should i replace it?

New heavy duty auto rotation
Trying to get my old helis back flying. I've seen a new part number 0414-440 EX HIGH TORQUE AUTO-ROTATION HUB or 0414-475 D3 HIGH TORQUE AUTO ROTATION HUB heavy duty auto rotation bearing. I am wondering if this part will be a drop in replacement for the old Freya EX-II.
Also which is the best option. Thanks!
