i just took the joker up for a heavily loaded run on a hot hot day. flew for 15 min and the low low voltage light started flashing and landed immediatly...took the tanic 10s3p pack out and it was hot....almost too hot to hold......

i hope i didnt screw up the pack. i usually never fly till the low voltage light goes on but i did once with a voltmeter and the light goes on before they reach the 3 volts per cell.....but this is the first time my lipos got that hot......is this normal?

thanks
Dan

As far as we tested, Lipos increase its temp in a noticeable amount under 3.10 v/cell. Once landed at 3.00 v/cell (loaded) the temp display shows 50ºC (122F) instead the 30ºC -35ºC (86F-95F) that normally shows while flying. Manufacturers states 60ºC-70ºC (140F-160F) max for continuous discharge.

Did you notice any cells starting to swell up when you landed?

It seems that lipos also heat up more as they age.

thanks guys....

no swelling....i measured the voltage afterwards and read well over 3 v per cell....put the pack back on the charger and the took up 5650mah for a 6450 mah pack. no swelling while charging either.

the pack came with a small lead for balancing the cells...ive not done this yet. how is this done? do you need to take the shrink wrap off? the lead is not connected to the battery....
thanks
