hi guys,

been searching through the forums for an answer but cant really get a definitive one so i thought i'd ask here, i've been considering trying a lithium rx battery setup with a regulator for a while, i'd go for the duralites right away but i have to buy 2 sets of them to kit out 2 sceadu's, and here in the uk they're quite expensive so i'm considering other options and am open to suggestions, the electronics setup they'll be powering will be as follows:

jr pcm receiver
throttle jockey governer
1x airtronics 94758
3x futaba 9252's
1x 601/9251

also i've read about some problems with the failsafe switch versions of the duralite regulators while i've been searching, is this a widespread thing?? if so is the best option for me to simply use the non failsafe switch version and have a heavy duty connecter such as a deans which i plug in manually before flying then unplug after?

it'd also be great if the stuff is relatively easy to get in the uk, and doesn't have to come from america which is pretty much always attracting a customs charge these days

thanks in advance for any help

Gareth

Look At
Give Dino a call at east coast extreme helis. They are selling an integrated switch that does a bunch of stuff. I believe they sell the duralite system as well. I know Dino has been running one in his heli for at least a year without problems.

There ad is on the RR Front Page.

I use the duralites and they are awesome, run out of tx battery power before RX . I use the regulator and a normal heavy duty futaba switch harness, works great for me. As for price yes they are a bit steep, but WELL WORTH IT. Not sure what the price difference between Skyline and direct from US is, but I have yet to pay import tax etc on them from US . Must be the carrier they are using.

Go on, go DURALITE

I love my Duralites - I have them on both my Fury and my Evo. I'm using the 4000mah packs for both. As far as the regulators are concerned, I have one failsafe and one where I'm using my own switch. No problems with either setup. I usually run out of fuel at the field before my Duralites run out. Love not having to quick charge at the field - my flying time is limited and I would rather spend it flying than charging.

Duralite is such a good set up I won't run anything else. I run the 4000's with the 5.1v switched regulator and never take a charger to the field. I don't have any experience with the other brands so I can't give any comparisons.

If you want to keep your wiring simple you could run the same as I do.

I use 4000mah Duralites with a Duralite 5,1v switched reg with KO PROPO OPTION. This means the regulator has an extra lead coming out of it to attach to the KO PROPO 2123.
This setup kicks ass, tic tocs etc are sooo much easier!

I love the Duralites and will never use anything else!

Cheers,

Richard

You are right, they don't mension it on the website but when you order you can specify that you want the KO PROPO OPTION and you will get the extra lead.
Because I already chose the reg. with switch I don't have to run 2 switches or worry about a switch going bad because the duralite one is failsafe (switch goes bad= helicopter stays ON).

It's just about as plug and play as you can get, 1 extra wire for the KO PROPO that's all....

Cheers,

Richard

ok ok you convinced me, i just ordered 2 sets of duralites with regulators and a charger, and also the 7.4v lead for the ko propo servo added to the regulators, i think i'll try a 2123 in one evo and a 94758 in the other, aside from that they'll be identical so it should make for an interesting test, thanks very much for all the help guys

hi again guys, so i've got my duralites installed and am just in the process of setting up the heli's, i do have a question though, when i'm loading the regulator heavily with all servo's moving the voltage display on my 601 drops from 5.1v to 5.0 volts, though i know this isn't much i was just wondering if it's normal and if anybody else who uses the duralite's and regulator system could confirm this for me.

many thanks

Gareth
