Crystals from 21 to 37?
allns47,

Will it work that way...by just getting the Tx & Rx. crystal Ch.37 and changing my presently Ch.21 Tx-Rx. crystals. Is there any high/low band frequency like the futaba's? Well I am just following instruction in the manual for the JR-6102...that only a certified tech can change somethings on the radio.
Just curious...but by all means if it will work fine with no problem by changing both Tx/Rx crystals then I will go your direction by replacing my current crystals on Ch.21 over to Ch.37. Let me know......or anyone that is well familiar with the JR line of radios.

Thanks to all.

Receiver Xtals
all you need to do is purchase matching rec. xtals for the Tx you have. You dont have to worry about the bands on late model JR equipment.\

you can legally change the xtals in receivers but the transmitters have to be changed by a certified tech.

Hi/Lo is futaba
It will work ,,,, but the FCC requires any radio that does not have a module in the back to have the crystals changed and check buy the dealer. There are some people that actually do that

say what?! just go buy the crystals and change them in your RX & TX. no one will ever know and it will work like if nothing has changed. FCC will NOT come knocking on your door! LOL

anyways, its a good idea to have spare crystals so in case you go flying one day and someone is on your current frequency you can swap to another and fly.

Deos anyone out there want to swap/trade Tx(black)& Rx(grey) Fm crystals Ch.21 for a Ch.37 Tx./Rx. crystals. Really need Ch.37 crystals badly in order to fly.

Again thanks to all for your ifos.

I didnt say they would .....
Im just letting you know what the law says. It should say the samething in the manual.

Some people do it, most dont, but if something goes wrong like you loose your signal and your heli kills someone and after they investigate and find out that it was because of a crystal failure... and that is not the original set! Your attorney fees will be alot more that the $10 it would cost to have do it the correct way.
Not knowing the law is no excuse and now that you do if you choose to break it.....

For the rest of the world...we change 72mhz crystals on the TX however many times we want...legally!

Just curious- how can anyone know if the TX crystal was NOT the original set anyway??

I dont know.....
I never really payed any attention to see if they have a serial number on them or something.

I know nobody really cares but incase you dont have manual, I quote...

Transmitter Crystal Replacement Notice
The Federal Communications Commission (FFC) requires that
changes in transmitter frequency must be performed only by
an authorized service technician (Horizon Service Center). Any
transmitter frequency change made a by non-certified
technician may result in a violation of the FCC rules.

yeah they want you to pay $75 to change a set of crystals that actually cost $15.00

"Just curious- how can anyone know if the TX crystal was NOT the original set anyway??"

they cant. changing it doesnt really chance anything on the radio except for the frequency itself.

At my field ch 20 and 21 are banned. I have also noticed many sites that I visit have the same rules.

JUST CURIOUS BUT WHY BAN CH 20 AND 21 ?

There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.'

They tend to get glitches so were banned from use at the field.

Never mind.....
So I got a lemon-aide here and not a lemon. I'll just have to buy me a brand new set of Tx/Rx JR crystals at a hobby dealer...don't want to be trading something that won't work for anyone.

Thanks....to all.....
