Hi Candace,

It's true, there really are more woman on this forum than speak up. Always nice to see another woman behind a model Helicopter. Whether to call model Heli pilots heliman is really not the consideration. Flying models is about skill and how best to achieve it; sex has nothing to do with that. It never did.

The single most amazing thing about this topic is that it has generated more responses than all of the other posts I've made!!!

My intent was to get to know some of the other woman on the forum, not to spark a debate amongst the men and myself.

I was just asking why "heliman".

To those that replied in a derogatory manner shame on you!!!

As far as why I picked "hovergirl" for my name. For 1, I'm proud to be a woman as well as a R/C heli pilot. Reason #2. it is the name of my website.

I guess I could have gone with something cryptic, but I chose not to. I could have also gone with other things as well, I chose hovergirl, so that is what it is.

As far as this not being about being a woman, and being more about skill etc. I agree. I was just asking why "heliman"?

I certainly did not intend to spark rude comments from the peanut gallery, The post was afterall titled "Ladies"

Thank you,
Kandace

Yer right, me and my SWARM don't know every heli pilot in Wisconsin, we just know the cool ones who don't make smartass comments on Runryder.

You fly RC helicopters? Can I have a ride?

I assume you meant women unless your mistaken this as a personals site But I was just curious, why specifically women?

Hi all, Again thank you to those that sent me a warm welcome!!!

As far as the mispelling I did mean woman, otherwise this is a whole different kind of website!!!

The only reason I was wondering whether there are other woman here is I was just curious if I was the only one.... no one likes to feel alone

Now since this topic has gotten a bit off track......let's move onto something more productive.....OK?

Take care and I'll see you around.

Good Morning Kandace,

Agreed.

I haven't visited your webpage as yet; curious however, what type of flying you prefer?

Hi Kandace, nice to meet you.I am one of those "shall i have a go...no I won't yet" kind of girls. My hubby flies and my son is learning and I well, I may one day,I often think about doing it but I know if I say anything I'll get 'encouraged' into doing it so much that I'll get real nervous and mess up.
So I watch and I learn and one day i will, maybe.
for now i work in a model shop, i'm 'ground crew' for the display team, i go to events to promote the shop and work on the website all of which i enjoy.
it is of course nice to know that when i do decide to finally have a go there are other women out there to support me, but i know that the guys will too.
at the moment its cool to be able to listen to the male pilots conversations and actually understand what they're on about.

uh oh I've started now...
So, 'Heliman' is not PC anymore?

OK, so some bright spark said 'let's use heliperson'.

Hang on a minute, that includes 'son', surely not vague enough.

OK, lets use 'heli-per-offspring'

Now, lets apply this to 'woman' and 'women'

UH-OH, it includes 'men', we cant have that, because 55% of the population will riot.

OK, lets call 55% of us 'wo-persons'

NOPE, includes 'son'

OK OK, we'll call them 'wo-daughters'

you get my point......

How many of the PC extremists have banned words like 'manhole', 'chairman', and 'heliman', etc because they contain the word 'man' or 'men'

Let me think, that would be about 0.0001% of the woMEN, in the feMENist moveMENt.

WE are all people, "chairman", "human" and "heliman" are mere words, without gender.

Now you've got me started.....

Hello, easy, breazy, beautiful hovergirl, or is that covergirl

I like knowing that there are out there women enjoying this great hobby. I just wish I can see one in person flying. A few years ago there was a female in our club flying planes, but haven't seen her lately. I guess that is too much to ask, since we are only 2 heli pilots in the club and both of us are beginners.

Welcome, and remember, the best upgrade that you can buy for your heli is FUEL (lots of it).

Heli-flying women..
Allright everyone, I just had one of my usual fantastic ideas.. Imagine if a lot of women started flying heli's and coming to funflys..
We could add a whole new event.. AND we could post wagers on it too.. Better than auto contests.. Ladies MUDWRESTLING!!!
After a long day of flying they can hand out beers, serve food and clean all the dishes.. Man, we gotta get more ladies involved..
