anyone using this combo--- the one in the advertisement pic right now?

believe the official name... "MicroHeli Bell Crank/Tail Pitch Slider SE Combo"

i ordered it... hopes to get a higher gain % out of the bird and less tail slop.

curious if anyone has seen results from this yet, and if they are happy with its functionality....... oh-- post your gyro and servo type also please.

thanks.

I'm using the Microheli tail pitch slider with the K&T aluminium bellcrank and getting good results. I use the standard 9g Align servo with a GY240 gyro. It's taken out all the slop of the standard P/S and bellcrank and the balljoint is a much better fit.

did you see an increase in gain % over the stock setup w/out getting wag?

did you have wag or drift initially? and now its gone with this setup?

i haven't gotten the one for the t-rex yet but I have the set they make for the hornet and it works very well. Its a similar design. The delrin bushing and ball setup work really well. I was able to increase my gain from 30% stock to 75% with a 401. I run it around 50% so i don't overwork the servo. But again..this was for the hornet and I had bought it last year when quality problems with microheli were unheard of. So if they've fixed their problems, I would imagine their t-rex setup to work well.

got mine last night....

installed but not a chance to flight test it just yet. am happy so far as i can really see how much less slop there is for wiggle/wobble movement.... plus i also got the updated version of the precision tail, so i do also like the improved throw possibility with the 2 screw holes on the precision tail ball link arms.

hopefully get to flight test it a little bit tonight, bang it around my tiny front yard and at least try some slow funnels, hovering, slow forward/backward flight. that should be adequate to tell if i've got the gain increase i'm looking for. If not, then i'm relocating my gyro mount location in hopes that will help.

i also hope the extra throw will allow no rotation under altitude decrease -to- quick/hard throttling.... i was not able to take enough pitch away prior, to get a steady tail under a hard climbout. it would steady after the climbout got going, but right at the point of beginning the climbout, it would torque around over 45 degrees, which sucks.

Ron,

The new CNC pulley with the long tail output shaft will help with the throw. If you use short ball linkage for the tail pitch slider, it's better to use a long ball linkage instead of short one. If you use the short one, make sure your tail rotor ball is located at the hole nearest to the tail pitch slider. There are two holes on the tail rotor arm.

hey andy...
yeah i know what you're saying.....

i was saying though that BEFORE i put the precision tail on... i could not get enough throw (with the stock tail setup) to stop the torquing under hard climbout...

but i like the precision tail BECAUSE it allows the improved throw distance, w/out modding anything else... i did also try the long links too. but with the short links and the inner most precision tail hole... you can get near exactly 8 degrees of tail pitch at the exact center of the stock shaft. which is a great feature of the precision tail in my opinion. starting at 8 degrees should keep the bird very neutral in a hover. then moving up from there gets you more torque-fighting tail pitch... problem with the stock setup was that to get 8 degrees of pitch, you had to be biased far to one side at its neutral position, leaving not a lot of room for increase over the 8 degrees. now with the MH precision tail, i have exactly 8 degrees with the slider at dead-center of the shaft, which is how it SHOULD be--- thanks for a good product Andy!

i'm pretty sure my tail control will be much improved with these items, but weather was nasty here yesterday and i did not get the chance to test it out just yet.

tonight i will get a few flight tests in hopefully, and report tomorrow with the results.
