Today was the first real spin up test. All seemed to be going well for the first few seconds then a loud grinding noise from the gears became more pronounced. Attempted to determine the root cause of the interferance but still no luck. How loud is the H2 suppose to be while spooling up compared with say shogun/trex?

If the grinding noise doesnt result in destroyed gears, it usually means a pinion is slipping on a shaft. Look at either end of the boom to make sure the gears arnt slipping.

crux12,

Your main gear may have a molding step on the hub this should get removed (filed) a bit to allow the main gear to ride closer to the main bearing and in turn take up the extra slack under the tail shaft drive pinion. Next, push the tail shaft far enough in to mesh properly with the bevel gear on the main. I hope this solves it for you.

I've been thru this drivetrain several times now balanced all parts and the damn thing vibrates like mad. Vibs so bad it snapped the tail mounted servo brakets (HS-50) I'm starting to think that the H2 was never ment to fly.

This has been posted before, but start with no head or tail rotor. Spool up to 100% and make sure things are ok. Add parts 1 at a time and keep checking. My helis have been nothing but smooth running by doing it this way.
