Hi,

I own a new X-Spec with a YS91 engine. I have flown it about 10 times and I have noticed from the beginning that the engine seems to run lean (I set it according to the manual) right above idle. In hover it seems to run fine. I notice the lean issue because the heli will vibrate a lot and the engine sounds lean. It is high frequency vibration and has made some screws vibrate loose, it even cracked one screw in half that holds the boom stabilizer bars. It vibrates so much that the horizontal fin will vibrate up and down half an inch. It's crazy.

I have dial indicated the shaft and it is within the recommended limits but that is one thing that still could be wrong. I just don't notice vibrations in hover, only when at idle.

Any ideas on what these vibrations can come from more than the startershaft?

Thanks

Hi
No balance of the fan and or the clutch.

I would think I would notice vibrations even at hover if stuff was out of balance, like on the tail.

Probably would, but I would look at it anyway. No motor is smooth at idle, though.

The ys vibrates like crazy at idle. I spent a whole night dialing my start shaft and putting in rear bearing for engine. Took it out and still vibrated like crazy at idle. Then we checked a guys raptor 90 and his did same thing with ys. He has his dialed pretty good too.

Hi
Thanks.

It does seem like the engine vibrates on idle and just before the clutch engages. So, maybe this is normal. I have changes the bearings and dialed the shaft correctly.

I will try to get it on tape and show you guys more what I mean when the horizontal tail fin vibrates, it sounds horrible.

I'll bet the motor gets better as it breaks in more.

Have you checked the checkvalve?
Is the tank like a balloon after 1 flight, a big 'psch' when the pressure is released?

Stupid maybe question but is the plumbing correct?

Hi
Checkvalve seems fine. The tank has lots of pressure. A big 'psch' when the pressure is released.

The tank has so much pressure the frame spacer that goes between the lowers frames under the tank has eaten out the plastic of the tank, even with a fuel tube on the spacer! I am not sure how to solve that issue yet.

Plumbing looks to be correct. I followed the manual.
