I have a Xero-G frame on a Rapp 50 and they call the color of the carbon fiber it's made from titanium.

Does anyone know where I might find a tail boom in the same titanium color?

Thanks,

Chuck

I was wondering about that very same thing the other day while looking at R90 booms.Carbon extream makes the titanium side frames. And I have the fins. Would be cool to find a boom..

Colored carbon booms did exsist at one time. Curtis use to sell them on his website. And oddly enough they were for the Raptor 30 and 50. I beleive he only sold red and blue though. Which still leaves you out in the dark. But rest assured, colored carbon booms were around at one time.

Have you tried monokote on a CF boom?
Im sure it would be hard to match that titanium CF look.
But that would open up some options.

Thanks for all the replies and ideas. I'm with LuckyLandings. I don't think I could cover a good looking carbon boom, but covering the stock boom is a good idea. Do they make titanium colored CF looking peel & stick?

On a side note, I wonder if I could buy some titanium colored carbon fiber tubing in the same size as a Rapp 50 boom and make my own?

If your going to use the stick on stuff you might find the stock Tail Push Rod Supports a real @%*&@^ to slide on without tearing.
I found the JR supports were the ants pants and fully adjustable
Cheers.

It went where??? Oh up there!!!!!!!!

I spoke to a man that knows about carbon and carbon boom, and the idea is good but the reality is a little bit flawed.

When the coloured carbon is made/layed up, the last layer is in fact coloured fibre glass and not carbon, if used on booms it would make them to flexible, and loose the stiffness we all want.

Possibly why we don’t see them, its a shame because the XeroG frames would look even better with matching tail booms

That would be dependant on the wall thichness of the actuall carbon itself before the last layer was layed on. So I do think it could be done if someone wanted to do it.

I just emailed a guy I met at one of our club meetings who owns a graphics & sign business and he's made all of the signs & banners for our club. One of the club members at our flying field had him customize one of his canopies with some graphics and it came out beautiful.

In my email, I've asked him if he could duplicate the titanium colored carbon fiber design as a decal or sticker so I can wrap it around my stock aluminum tail boom. Hopefully I'll hear from him in the next day or so and let you know.
