Hi Guys Can you help

Im experiencing problems with the tail on my raptor 30 as i start to throttle up and just as its goes to lift of the deck the tail is uncontrollable
it has a gy401 on it and unfortunately just a 3001 servo. I use a FF9 radio and a have checked that all the mixes are off and i have aslo tryed reversing the gyro but it still wants to pirouet at take off. I no the servo im using isnt up to much but i crashed my rap 50v2 which had all 9252s and a 9254 on the tail i lost everything so until i crack a circuit i want to keep it as cheap as possible.

Any ideas

Regards

Ginge.

That servo will hold the tail with a 401 just make sure you have DS (digital servo) mode turned off.

It really sounds like the switch on the gyro is backwards.

Right Rudder should more the servo arm towards the front, Left rudder should move it towards the tail. If perchance that is backwards, reverse the rudder channel. If thats right, pick up the heli by the head and spin the nose to the left, the servo should pull towards the front. (giving right rudder to compensate for the left spin)

The light should be on solid for Heading Hold mode. Make sure you turn the Tx on first with the switch in HH mode. Turn on the RX and watch the light, it should come on steady.

Next move the collective stick from low to high slowly but consistently. Be carefull to only use collective and not give any rudder input. Watch the light, if it starts to flash and the tail servo moves, go into your radio and INHIBIT or disable REVO mixing.

Also verify when the gyro is in rate mode the servo is centered and there is 4.5 mm between the tail case and the pitch slider, the tail blades should have about 4 degrees or so of pitch at that point. If thats way off adjust it at the double link in the middle of the tail pushrod. While your there make sure those set screws are locktited and tight.

Some other stuff to verify. Looking from the right side of the heli at the model side on, the tail should turn counter clockwise.

Make sure the belt only has 1/4 twist and that the tension is correct.

No problem!

Where are you in Scotland? I had the pleasure of a months stay there while I was in the Navy. Beatiful country, I told my wife, of all the places I made it to in the Navy (most of the world) Scotland is the one place I'd pay to take a vacation to. Cept y'all drive on the wrong side of the road!
