I'm putting in the Hanson g26 in my Spectra-G.
The instructions on the spectra-g kit tell me to remove the pull starter engagement key and put on a 6mm hex nut, then re-install the engagment key and pull starter. The problem is, not enough threads left on the crank shaft to do this. Anyone else have this problem or what??

You should only put a small washer that should be supplied in the kit, mine was taped on to a paper drawing.
It was in the same plastic bag as the RF shield and engine mount plates.

why.
there must be a good explanation for carrying all of the field gear, battery, and starter to the field verses a little pull start that removes...right?

That sucks I must say. I was really looking forward to a simple pull start system. Like everyone says, don't want to have to carry so much gear. Who sells a starter that will kick over a bigger gas engine? Nobody I know of.

Thanks guys for the info. Where can I get one of these dynatrons and how much? I wish they would have given us a way to make the pull start permenant. Personally I think that was a really bad idea. So now you have to worry about it falling off. Take something that WAS simple and make it a pain in the ass. I don't get it.

You said the RF shield come in a bag? Does it come with the Spectra G? I didn't think it did and told my LHS to order me one. I am waiting on the Spectra G still so I just ordered it because I want to have everything I need when it gets here.

The RF shield (#125-10) should be in bag 5B.
5B is inside a larger plastic bag that contains both the fan mount plate, fan assembly tool

A Dynatron is around $70 at Ricks.
Its easy to put on and remove the pullstart. Very simple and smart solution.

I don't own a PGasser (yet!!). However I don't understand why you guys have to remove the pull-start. Can't it just be fixed on the bird and fly? I'm sure that extra weight not gonna have much impact on such a big heavy bird, is it??? I am just curious.

Also has anyone tried to fit this electric starter (link below) on their PGasser with G23 engine? How does it work out? Any modification to the frame required??? It will be cool if you can fit a battery pack onboard to feed the starter as well as the radio electronics. Then use a generator to charge the pack while flying it. It will work like your car, push the button to start the engine and go. MAINTENANCE FREE!!!

it is AND pull starts...but
try the pred forum for ease of everyone.

the weight is around .5lb. Gassers are heavy because of generators the engine and batteries.,..oh and 10-12oz pipes they carry. It all adds up. you can fly a pig in the air that can fly witout charing or even starting, but you gain the cons as well...

Sorry folks, I didn't know this thread was for Spectra G. I thought we were all talking about pull start on Gasser (any Gasser).

Sorry my apology.

We ARE talking about pull starters...
All of them.

Note, Spectra G owners: You can get an extended pull start pully so as to NOT require the modification (and void the warrenty on your Hanson engine if I understand it right). PM me for details. Personally, I think it was a less that stellar design move to require that shim OR special pulley. NOT to say I am speaking badly of the overall design.

As for removable or not on a P-gasser...about 5 OZ saved with the removable option. Yes, it is OPTIONAL to have it removable. The SE metal and Carbon SE gasser versions have that included in the kit. Reminder, it MUST be removed before liftoff. IT WILL COME OFF INFLIGHT and has the potential for serious damage to the machine.

The vario electric start is for the RC family of engines. We all use PUH family motors. It won't work. Sorry.

There. Covered the thread topic question and the other ones too.
