Dear Customer,
We thank you for your online order #29965
Please be informed that the first time you order with us, we’ll need

1. a clear photo copy of your credit card (front & back)

2. your current credit card monthly statement stating your billing address and you are the credit card holder.

You can fax or email me.

This is to protect the card holder & the merchant as well as waive the fraudulent charge fee. Please include your online order number on your fax information or you can email your credit card information to my email address.
And please be informed that the order you placed on the internet doesn’t include the shipping fee and your Custom Tax in your country. We’ll give you a quotation of your order after we received the information we asked in this mail.

If you have any questions, Please feel free to contact me. My e-mail address is eric@heli-world.com or shipping@heli-world.com. Our fax number is 408-451-1156. Our telephone number is 408-451-1155.
We look forward to serving you in the future.

Have a nice day!
Best regards

Helicopter World, Inc.

The above is the responce I got after spending 10 mins filling out there online sales> Do they really think I'm just going to email to some one my card details again and not on a secure net or send some one a fax copy of the card to a unknown number! Why dont i just post them it and be done , come on guys whats the score ! Everyone else can do the normal checks .
Would a French bank statement tell them anything ?
Then try phoning and spend 15 mins on hold and get no one !!!!!
I only want a Torpedo muffler...............not a whole machine !!
Sorry for the rant but I read so much good stuff about the predetor but this has pissed me off that I wont be byuing from them!
CAn any one else sell me the muffler ?

Ahh... It's because of the international order thing. People in the US (and probably UK, if ordering from Century UK) don't have to do this.

Yeah, it is a little creepy. I wouldn't do it... even though I'm currently a happy Century customer.

Idea: Have your LHS order the stuff for you. It won't take any longer, and it might not cost more because your LHS gets dealer pricing. Then if you have an issue, you can talk to your LHS.

No, they are NOT the worst. If YOU have an issue, then either call them and get it resolved or stop griping. They have a policy for overseas orders that is intended to protect them as well as the cardholder against fraud. 'Nuff said on that.

Now, as for what to do to get YOUR stuff on the way with the BEST customer service, then I totally agree you should contact Ricks' and get a quote. They have ALL the goodies we use in the gassers. Including mufflers.

ron@ronlund.com will get you hooked up. He will be returning on Monday to the office.

And I bet you were ordering from Heli-World. Their is a difference.

Heli-World is a retailer that sells a number of different brands and Century Helicopter Products is a manufacturer that only sells Century helicopters and periferals that they manufacture or import to dealers.

IMHO, I would be glad they are so thorough - any fraud artist would have trouble buying anything if every seller required such info.

To Much Info
Century can be a pain in the rear but my experince was prttey good and yes I placed an order with them and they did not ship until I fax back a confrimation to charge my creit card. This is a good thing now I just call them and they ship same day. Just a little advice shop local because if you have a problem with the product you have someone close you can deal with.

If you order International it doesn't matter which hobby shop they all require a copy of your credit card information. I had to do this for Century, Heliproz and this for Rick's.

Rick’s requires a digital photo of your credit card (front and back) and a picture id in order to process your order. If digital is not an option, then a clean clear fax. Please e-mail your digital copies to customer_service@ronlund.com. Or fax to 1-361-855-4124.

Thanks

I guess I can't quite understand such a response to an effort to protect YOU as much as Heli-World.

> 1. a clear photo copy of your credit card (front & back)

You are not giving them anything they didn't already have.

> 2. your current credit card monthly statement stating your billing
> address and you are the credit card holder.

What is the big deal with this one? Make a copy, black out the purchases and your balance then fax it. At that point, again, you are not giving them any information they didn't already have; merely confirming it.

You will find similar requests from a growing percentage of US on-line retailers due to rampant international credit card fraud. If a fraud attempt succeeds, the company loses big time as well as the real individual, if any, to which the information belongs. These companies either make a decision to ask for confirmation of your information or to simply not sell to foreign customers.

As someone who has had their information used for fraudulent international purchases, let me tell you, it is NOT a fun process to get everything fixed.
