Okay guys and girls of the RC heli world, I just wanted to share an exhilarating experience that I had today. Now I have tried many different
Types of rotor tachs that are and have been on the market over the years, and as Most if not all of you know this tends to be mainly a two-person affair
With the exception of one or two out there. However today I tried something
Totally different, it’s a wireless RF tachometer made by Helitronics.

Now this piece of gear is amazing and did one hell of a quick job at letting me correctly and accurately calibrate my rotor head speed on my Raptor 50v2, on
my own. Now for those that have a Governor on your heli then the set up is easy, as You just feed your governor sensor to the Tach txer and governor using a Y cable. If you don’t have a governor then the tach comes supplied with an Optical sensor, which is very simple and quick to install.

Anyhow on to my results using this tach, after a little pondering how to
Mount the rxer onto my 9CHP I did come up with a quick and easy solution,
(Check my gallery out on the 04/04/05 for a pic) which made it so easy to
fly my heli and just glance down at the read out, whilst adjusting my Throttle
Jockey Pro Atv’s up or down to get my target head speed.

Okay so I wanted my low head speed at 1750 and my high at 1950, well what
I can tell you is my original settings taken by various tachs in the past,
were so far off it was frightening. Anyhow within minutes I had my low down
to 1748rpm and my high speed up to 1954rpm, I then became very aware of the difference in the helis performance.

Whilst using the tach I found that it was much easier to tune the top end
Needle for optimum mixture, there by immediately noticing the effect
On the engine performance. This really became apparent at 1954rpm (were
I do most if not all my flying), as the CY MPII which I thought I had
Running well really did tune in so much better that the power and torque
From the engine increased to such a degree that I could feel the difference
In the helis performance. My GY401 and 9254 setup became even more solid than I have ever seen it before, and the engine seemed so much more sweeter and Wanted to give me more power when I asked for it.

All in all I have to say that this is one if not the best pieces of RC heli
Gear I have ever had the pleasure of owning and using, and to top it all off
Once I had my target head speeds sorted out the way I wanted them, I could just
Unplug the RF tach txer and have my electronics back to normal in less than a

So in conclusion I have to say my flying was the best it has ever been today, and I came home on a real adrenalin rush.

Not a sales rep..
Just a very satisfied helicopter pilot and customer.

I'm always glad to hear about it when people enjoy my products. It makes the time spent developing them worthwhile.

Well, I thought I new what I wanted for my birthday after reading this review....until I followed up on the web site for pricing. I would spent $120 on such a unit, but not $225 for the combo (without casing at that).

Checked it out myself. I agree, price is way too high. Good idea though. Definately needs a case.
