I have a Raptor 50 and I have just gone through both bearings in the engine. I have always wanted a hyper so I was woundering how good this engine runs. Does it run as well as the normal 50?

For me, this engine ran great right from out of the box, I set the needles as per instructions and it started and ran great the from the first start. It was real rich at first but now that I have almost three galons through, I'm starting to lean it out and seeing some of the awsome power this engine has. I'm still 2.25 turns out on the HSN, and had to lean out the LSN a bit, but it already out perfroms my completely leaned out TT50 by a considerable margin. So far for me, this has been a perfect engine bothing running and tuning.

I have to agree with "RobRoy". I had leaned my LSN & HSN today then it the throttle/collective full and she shot in the air about 35 feet so I decided that was too much for me so I richened her up a little until I get used to it.

My Hyper runs great too. Smooth as silk and lots of power with the Hatori 546 muffler. No modifications needed.

I've only got 3 tanks so far,but I really like the power. At 9/-9 it is unboggable even running rich.Should get some real time on it now that the clocks are changing.

Same here as A Bundy -- I have two new Hypers with a few tanks through each -- tons of power running rich. One Raptor has the stock muffler, the other has the new Hatori SB 50 FH JK Special... (that's a mouthful...) -- anyhow, to be honest, running rich they seem to have about the same power -- the great thing so far about the Hatori is the sound -- nice and quiet without sacrificing power. I have a feeling though that when both these motors are broken in and leaned out, the Hatori will be more powerful -- just a hunch.

Just to add,I'm running the TT kit muffler.......Also,My backup runs the SHX50 and I am happy with the general running and power of that too.I retired one after last year as it became "soft" in the power dept.I put it in a 40 size stick. It spins a 12.25X3.75 hover prop.It uses 30% fuel so I don't have to bring different fuel. That motor plain rips it up! Awesome motor.Way better than a 46fx.

No crank mod here -- I'm not really into that... I don't feel that it's necessary -- maybe it is, who knows. With my luck, I'd ruin something and end up with an expensive doorstop.

No mod here, this thing ran great out of the box, right now I see no reason to mod any part of this engine.

another vote for the hyper!!

i've always been a fan of budget... but after blowing my TT50, i thought i'd splash and get the hyper... the TT50 i already thought was powerful enough......

but yeah... the hyper is soo much better!!!!!!!

i love it!

i'm just running it with the PV109 too, gonna get the Hatori 546 though...

check out this climbout, kills the evo with older hyper in it.. (also no properly tuned yet)

After running the hyper in my rap50 with a Hatori SAB 5rs pipe I've decided to replace the 50 sxh in my other 50 with another hyper 50. Starts easily and although its still rich, it significantly outpulls the 'broken-in' 50 sxh. Great motor so far!
