For those who attended the Toledo show this past weekend, they were able to see the Blade CP up close. Everyone I spoke with was very, very impressed with the quality of the machine and the price, and after watching the video, even more impressed with the flight capabilities.
Better yet, we demoed the Blade CP during demos at the eTOC and exGames this weekend too. Myself and Team JR heli pilot Ron Osinski flew the helis during intermission - mine being box stock and his featuring the $23 "Aerobatic Enhacement Kit" and a 3S 900mAh TP LiPo pack.
As everyone who saw the heli will tell you, the performance is far better than many helis in the RTF micro heli class. Box stock the heli flies great - since each one is factory test flown, the gyro gain, tail motor mixing and blade tracking are already set. It flies great right of the box with no hop ups, no mods and no adjustments neccessary. And in about 15-20 minutes you can have the optional Aerobatic Enhancement Kit installed along with a 3S 860-1320mAh Lipo pack and be flying loops, rolls, inverted and more. Ron actually had his Blade CP inverted inside the gym where the eTOC and exGames were held, scuffing the paddles on the ground with ease! It was pretty impressive and the crowd went wild. They couldnt believe the demos were flown with stock radios, motors, etc as the helis were both very smooth and rock solid.
The heli is not advertised as an all out 3D machine, nor is it intended to be. It offers excellent sport and basic aerobatic performance in a simple, RTF package that costs less than most helis without collective pitch in the same class. If youre an experienced heli pilot, or a sport pilot looking for a quick fix or your first electric heli the Blade CP is a great choice if youd like a micro heli without all the headaches. I cant stress enough how easy this heli is to set up, maintain and fly. Plus, youll be able to find very reasonably priced spares at just about any shop in your area!
Im sure some people might have their opinions on this model without even seeing it - but why not wait until its in other people's hands to find out more. They should be in stock at shops by mid May and I wont be suprised to see quite a few popping on here, at the local fields and all over at heli events this summer!
