What a dipstick. Forgot to say. Got it mounted on the sideframe and check the ground to the motor for interference purposses.
Kev
Do you work on AF or engines?

Hi kevin,
Where do you get those 231 Zenoah's for 260 Euro? Because here in Holland they go for over 500 Euro!
By the way I know that Vario sells the 26cc cyl/piston kit for about 180 Euro, is this an idea? (there's no substitute for cubic inches, so I'am told)
Eric.

Horizon hobbys in the states on line...........everything in europe a ripp off compared to there.
Engine balance is the problem with the bigger and heavier piston , thats why 231 is so smooth and Hanson does his thing on the 26 to get it smooth.

Well, I tried to fly this afternoon, I managed but after a lot of carb. related problems.....
It started OK nothing wrong there, while spooling up it sounded lean. It couldnt pick up without stalling the engine.
Tried this several times without getting better.
I had to richen the LS needle and until then it will spool up. I had less engine power than I normal did. Impossible to loop full, throttle the engine "sagged" (slowely loosing rotor RPM)
Crap!!! this is the first time the engine gives me so much problems.
This is the first flight with the ignition mod. is it due to this?
Well back at home inspected fuel line/ filter etc no clue.
I turned the (both needles) back in and out, went hovering in my garden and suddenly the engine sounded very rich (burbling sound) This is strange. Now I had to (lean) the needles back to the original setting.
Hovering is better, but now it's misfiring (swings its tail holds in, and there's a midium loud "bang")
I "feel" like there's some debris in the carb. and every now and then this will influence the needle settings.
It's like flying with a bad tuned nitro engine! Normaly I will feel what a engine likes but now..... Then it's lean and then it's rich (after fiddeling with the needles) Now Its back on my normal setting 1 1/4 HS and 1 turn out for the LS needle)
HEELP!! Anybody

Hi Eric, all my stuff on 35 meg .....got it for the uk as we could use anything in the UAE and since moving to France not had a problem ....but I dont fly at a club , can't find one.
Great news is that my engine with the solid state ignition and the 643 carb is so smooth and got some go,fantastic compared with the 167a and points. Just flew with both at 11/8 turns , bit rich a top end but way good in hover, get nice milke chocolate plug colour.. With turn in top a little next time.
Was thinking about coming up your way when the weather better for some fun.

OOHH Man,
That would be fatastic. Two helicopter nerds and 2 choppers and a big flying field at 5 minutes walking distant.
But for now, what do you think about the troubles I have? Is it the carb/ is it ignition or....
My other hobby is building chevy V8 engines for street or drag racing.
So I can relatively feel what a engine likes or wants, but those engines are 6, 7, or 8 litres displacement.
My other nitro heli (hirobo Sceadu) never gave me any problems whatsoever. I tought a gasser heli would be less harder to tune.

Hello,
Checked the spark plug its a light coffee color and has some "debris" between the electrodes.
I will put the new plug in and have a look if I can disturb nature a little bit more today!

Hi,
Cleaned the carb today, found enough debris in the fuelintake screen.
Changed the sparkplug yesterday, made a flight and no problems whatsever. Also did I find a crack in the Zimmerman muffler at the flange/chamber. I will have this fixed, so no flying anymore, any ideas how to fix this quick?? (haven't got a torch)
Eric.
