Hi,

I am getting ready to maiden my HV TRex in the next few days (Mega 16/15/5 on 6s TP 1320 and 11t pinion) and I noticed I get a spark each time I plug the pack to the controller.

I have 2x3s pack in serie. I connect the 1st pack to a Micro Dean connector then the second to another Micro Dean connector, the lot being connected to the Jazz controller with a standard Dean connector.

My guess is the High Voltage is the source of this spark but what are you guys doing about it?

I am scared I might think it is normal one day when it was in fact a short circuit say,and connect the packs anyway.

Thanks for your input

Guillaume

I get a small spark when connecting my 3S battery, your making a connection which needs some amps even at idle so it seems reasonable to me.

My 5s setup will have a small spark at times. not every time but it is a small one when it does. I am using a 2s and 3s packs in a similar way as you. I don't think it is something to worry about.

sjslhill- no one was asking about motors. If you want to inform people about that motor make a separate post about it. no need to get upset about it.

I got worried about it to and did a search when I first got my trex, basically the spark is due to the esc powering up when you plug in your battery. You could put a switch in but it would still do that same thing. It doesnt hurt anything electronic wise but your connectors will degrade over time. Just replace them when they do. So spark away!

Really????

I've emailed them many times when I bought batteries for my Hummingbird and other stuff, and never got spam from them.

Many thanks to you all,

I can now maiden my TRex without worrying.

I guess I'll just have to change the connectors from time to time.

Guillaume

ps:I am a bit confused regarding the conflict earlier in this thread ????

I was following this thread. I commented on some very bad posting etique by Steve at Battlepacks. He added a post that was completely irrelevant to this thread. It was nothing less then a shameless plug for his commercial buisiness. He requested that people email him to get more information. Sounds like spamming to me. What do you think?

IT was an inappropriate post for the subject we were discussing. This was brought to his attention and he got pissed and deleted his post.
He did later on make a separate thread for it but deleted it to.....nevermind!

Any electrical device will spark or arc when being connected if there is a load . The controller is the load in this instance. If a device is manually switched and in the off position there would be no spark.

Exactly, the bigger the load the bigger the arc.
