I just replaced my Dolphin motor (Himax 4200) with a new "Park 400" and just after I finished installing it, I turn it over by hand, to check things (gear play etc) and noticed that the pinion has a wobble (bent shaft) in it. I waited nearly a month for it too, now it looks like I will have to wait longer for another one.
If I use it how it is, I think it's going to cause premature gear and bearing wear.

Has anyone else received their motor with a bent shaft too?

.

Cheers, Hayden.

Its unusual for a motor to be supplied with a bent shaft. Have you tried removing and refitting the pinion?, how tight is the pinion / motor shaft tolerance? how far down the motor shaft does the pinion sit?

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the pinion fit not the motor shaft. My solution was the pinion / tail input gear modification where the pinion sits further down the motor shaft.

Hope thats all it is, sounds like you've been waiting long enough. Also, I agree, I certainly wouldn't run it as it is.

I dont think it's the pinion, I thought of that. But I'm about 99% sure it's the shaft.
The pinion gear is a brand new, it's a long Zoom 400 "Like 90" 8T pinion. It's not a major wobble but enough to notice and cause a slight binding effect (the gear play goes loose, then tight) as it turns.
The pinion is a nice neat slide-on, fit.

Cheers, Hayden.

Yup me too, the first Park400 I got had a bent shaft, took it back to the shop, they tried to bend it straight..shaft snapped (in the guys fingers!). The second Park400 I got as a replacement is also bent but not as much (only a very slight movement), so I am using it, not exactly very happy about it, but it does work.
I swapped out my 400DH as the Park was supposed to be the 'mutts nuts', but my original JustGoFly.com 400DH pisses over the Park400 in terms of power and now quality too, Im thinking of getting another 400DH to replace it, before the Parks magnet explodes due to the vibrations. Blake if you read this, sorry m8 but the 400DH is way better IMHO.

Sound's like this might be a common problem with the Park 400's, and maybe other people just havn't noticed it or there not as bad as some.

Maybe I better not get it exchange, might end up with a worse one than I got now.
.

Cheers, Hayden.
