Ah yes, I remember when my friend got his Sylphide 50 and we cracked open the box drooling all over those beautiful metal parts. It is a very impressive heli both quality and flight performance wise. When you consider all the metal parts and the high quality and consider how much money you can drop into upgrades into any heli out there, the $1200 price tag does not seem so bad (he also has a caliber 30 that cost him $1300 with all the metal upgrades and does not fly nearly as nice as the Sylphide). In terms of building it, I think it goes together real fast. I know my friend had it built up in 3 evenings. Are you going to drop an IMZ in it?

I think the IMZ its the best way to go with this one.. an special engine monture its required for an OS. so i best keep it all the way is intended to be. Have you ever fly your friends sylphide? its true that has ciclyc isnt that agile??.. thanks

I have not flown it yet but I watched him fly it a few times. I don't know what your expectations or skill levels are but the Sylphide is not really a 3D ship but it does flip and roll at a pretty good rate. Where it excels is in precise response and it's excellent hovering stability. It was designed as an FAI ship from the beginning. Again, that's not to say you can't have fun with it and fly it aggressively. Overall, I think that it compares to a Hirobo Evo with just the lead weights in the paddles for cyclic response with a bit more stability in hover and more precise response to commands from the sticks. Maybe with some experimentation with paddles and maxing out on cyclic, you can come close to where you want to be with 3D. In terms of quality, there is nothing that comes even close that I know of in the .50 size ships. There is no slop anywhere on this heli that I could find. I think you will really enjoy it. The IMZ engine rocks by the way!

Thats helpfull hawk,
Surely its a FAI machine but wondering how flexible could it be, just like the tempest... i just want it to be a some kind of "precision 3d or extreme FAI" machine.

With the ability to change flybar ratio and get a total pitch range of 22 degrees, you can set the Sylphide for FAI or 3D. It would not be an easy task to go back and forth, but the set it up for either flying style should be very easy.
I would recommend that you set it up for sport flying with -10 to 10 and put some V paddles on it and some nice competition 3D blades. That should get you all the agility you would need from the heli.
I have not done much with mine other than hover and some straight and level flying. Then again, my main goal with the helicopter is to enter Class 1 competition. If that changes, I will surely set it up for sport flying and start doing some loops and rolls with it.
Enjoy your helicopter.

Regards,
Chris
