I just noticed something in the instructions of the 401 and was wondering if I’ve got my setup right or how much it matters that I haven’t followed the instructions exactly.

Initially I setup the gyro by turning it on in the AVCS mode then switch it to normal mode, hover the heli and and adjust the rudder neutral position machanically. I don’t use the trim to adjust the rudder neutral position because I want the mechanical setup to be as perfect as possible first. If I need to adjust gryo sensitivity I’ll do that afterwards. Then I set the switch to AVCS and go fly, actually hover I’m just getting into forward flight. That’s pretty much how I set the gyro.

However, under AVCS side adjustment, the instructions say go through all of the flight conditions to see if the monitor LED lights (still in AVCS) and also adjust sensitivity. There are other instructions that follow these that I haven’t followed either. I’ve just basically set it up as I described earlier and go. So I was wondering how critical the rest of the instructions are and how many of you follow them. I’m doing what I was told by those who fly at my field so I’m assuming I’m doing what everybdy else is doing. Just wondering out loud. Appreciate any thoughts.

I think all the instructions are trying to say is:

be sure you're still in AVCS

be sure the LED doesn't start to blink (indicating trim or revo-mix, both
bad for AVCS operation)
