Are you talking about the GT engine?
It's an ABN setup

I tend to prefer ringed engines for all models but especially in heli's

this is the 55 GTH with ABN cylinder/piston

i will test the engine making the comparison with the OS 50 Hyper

quality of machining is very good

and 2.1 HP seems enough !

I have both and test it to time but have them in different helicopter and it need a little time to put in the telemetry system and after that changing the motor in one of the helicopters
it´s my first time with the small motors after Ergo and the 46 OS ( we have a 9 years old) but the different is impressive
for the test I use a muscle pipe low gearing,CP 20% and 30%
the OS was to rich in midrange and didn´t run well in midrange so I had to put on a 60B carb and close midrange, but may be the 60L carb is well for a small muffler with high back pressure ( ther you need a rich midrange like the 60L do it well)
the webra is not that rich in midrange if he is on well temp, 115° C , he can do it, but may be with a muffler with high back pressure it´s to lean, but not a problem with the pro mix there you have only to shorten the idle needle in 0,1mm steps and he is getting more rich in midrange
this works also in the 52 AAR

Try default needle valve setting start from there low 3-3.5 high 2-2.5

the trick is the low speed is the main needle it powers up to 75% of the throttle range when that is set do some full throttle climb outs and set the high speed needle

I had great luck with Enya # 3 and Coolpower 15%fuel and also with Wildcat 15%

As far with exhaust is it sucks with the MP2 go with the Zimmermann 2615 or a Hartori exhaust

Yesterday we put in a 55 in a R50, we need to the standard shim a 3mm shims under the fan,
muffler a 50 webra compact, plug webra 6 , CP 12,5%
before installing the motor I putted out the idle needle put away one inner o-ring to get it out more easy, the needle was 21mm long.
I cut it to 20mm and give it the first try with 3turn out, main needle at 0,75 turn out (with another muffler may be main needle more open)
It was well at full open but little to lean in mid range so I shorten the idle needle on a 400 sandpaper to 19,8mm, then 19,7mm at 19,6mm it work well in mid range and full open.
In a Sceadu it worked well with the same muffler fuel and plug with idle needle at 20mm length, with the mp2 it was in this way a little to rich but running, may be there it´s better at 20,2mm.
Pitch range in both helicopter +-10°
The 52 AAR has the same pro mix carb, so if full open is OK and mid range to lean cut the idle needle with a 400 sandpaper in 0,2mm steps, if you put 0,1 or 0,2 to much away it is not the end of the world the motor is only running a little to rich in midrange until you get your next idle needle from the webra dealer, for the next try

3DPP,

looks like an interesting mod for the .52 (mine seems too lean in the middle and too rich in the high...)

but what's the difference between cutting down a needle or just
screw it out a little...
both should have the same effect, no?

srewing out has not the same effect as cutting, for better understanding I try to tell you short
the needle has a traveling way from ~2,7mm the cone on top of the needle is ~ 2mm long it came out from the brass pipe at most at half open carb, its not linear spray bar opening but only with a little positiv expo,
this may be good for a helicopter with a excelent big fan and extrem tunning pipe low nitro , but the most of us flying muffler and R50 with nothing as cooling fan and a lot of nitro
in this way we need not a slowly opening spray bar,
we need
from 0-50% carb open..... a spray bar opening from ~90% climbing in a very fast curve (spray bar75 % open at 30-40% carb open)
from 50 to 100% carb open.... 10% spray bar opening near linear
(this is from a 55 in a Sceadu, I did not look at the spray bar opening curve in the R50 V1 it´s for shure other because needle is shorter)

if we cut the top, the needle has a shorter cone, the cone we need for the fine regulating for idle,
the needle came out from the brass pipe earlier and open the spray bar

it´s very easy to do,
adjust first idle at the rich side so that the motor like to stopp but is to hold on run with higher idle,
after this midrange with the main needle in hoover or flying around, after this try full open is it to rich cut idle needle

Webra
Guys, 3DPP is an expert in Webra motors.
I think whatever he advise, it is after many hours of testing, so its should be equal to bible.

Wouter.

We are selling all brands, but selling Webra motors make me feel most confidence, since this is the only company with the real service in real time.

Any ever probel with Webra was never ignored, and always the customer was treated as should be.
Maybe its because they are also located in Europe, but the end of the story, if you buy Webra, you buy a product with confidence

the 55 is my first little one after years were I was flying Ergo 50 with the OS 46, the last years I was flying only 60, 75, and 91
I have a weston 50 v1 in my Magnum (plane), in heli I didn´t try Westons but saw some 50 v1 and v2 flying, very impressive motor with good power, Alan did a great job ( it´s not a webra desing)
Weston motor parts for the customer are coming only from Weston not fom Webra, Alan is the distributor
I´m not shure but think the cylinder wil fit, because it fit also the 91 ABC cylinder in my webra 91.
best regards peter
Alex
but thanks
short notice, I love the bible more as motors

first test on my raptor se
and very surprising result

50% throttle give more than 2200 rpm !!

to get 2000 rpm , 40 % throttle

main needle is open only 0.45 turn

fuel consumption is also much lower than os 50

not too bad
