Just wondering if any of you have suggestions for sunglasses (brands, lens color, etc.)

Doing AP work, I would think a pair of good quality sunglasses would help while hovering at higher altitudes and greater distances. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

i believe sporty's or some other aviation magazine has the occassional "sun glass shootout"

every time the winner has been oakley's, th sqaure wire in paticular, but that was just because that was the oakley sunglass they tested, all oakleys have the same "plutonite" lenses,i have a pair of the square wire 2.0's with the red lenses(makes things in the sky much more visible) and i have used one of their newer sun glasses, althougha bit pricy, the oakley penny's with their 160 dollar ruby lense, it makes everyting very very visible.

heres a link,

I will second the suggestion for Oakley. I have three pairs of their glasses: Square Frame 2.0 with black polarized, M-Frame Sweep grey polarized, and M-Frame Sweep amber polarized. I use the Square Frames for pretty much everything I do outside except mountain biking. The M-Frames are a wrap-around style, which give you much more protection on the sides. I found the M-Frames to be excellent for flying. The black lenses are better when it's sunny; the amber better for overcast days.

I just got a set of M-frames and they are fantastic. Well worth the price tag if you ask me.

Another vote for oaks with the reddy-orangy lens (G30) - awesome in any sky conditions and great optical clarity. I love my Zeros

I prefer the 'fitovers' brand. covers your regular eye glasses, they have different shades, and they have glass on the sides for shielding, too. They are polarized. They're inexpensive, and hold up well. Not a fashion statement, but I'm not after that.

I have 4 suggestions too...
Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart
anything but the cheapest Wal-Mart
Polarized Wal-Mart

go to the Sporting goods (fishing) section and get 3 or 4 polarized ones for $14.95 each

I'm just a little bitter after someone swiped some really expensive ones out of my truck, case, frames, 3 sets of lenses. And truthfully, I really couldn't say they worked better but they looked cool
