I have a Sport Hawk with stock muffler and an OS .37 Engine. I am going to try to fly for the first time this weekend (with instructor), but wanted to know if the muffler is good enough for this engine.

Thanks

stock muffler
NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stock mufflers are not designed to support .37's power.. You need a Hatori for this engine to be OPTIMAL.

Im just telling you from my experience with .37, the tuning becomes fickle, the power is compromised... Get a Hatori.

The stock TT39 muffler works fine on the OS37, no it won't be the best but new guys should be able to find one cheap.

the stock muffler will work
but like said above the Hatori is a very large pipe
it is a half inch larger than my fifty size MPII
upgrade when you can for best performance

Ok, since I have not flown yet I'll just upgrade. What is a good muffler for this engine?

hatori 415 works great and it is cheaper than the sab-6rs. I was told they were the same but the 415 is for sell overseas. Got it from cyberheli.com. i have it on a raptor and i needed to make a little extension because it is so long, not sure about the hawk. The extension is worth the power.

The Toki 40 muffler works great and is inexpensive. Lots of power.

I think I saved around $20 overall on the 415 I purchased vs. the 6RS

Just play it by ear and try the stock muffler first and adjust the mixture in proper settings. If you feel that you need to upgrade your muffler do it later once you tried the stock. You will never know until you fly it...Good Luck

Keep in mind with a stock muffler, you will NOT have enough power for 3D, etc.

just my $.02
