I have run g2 on my computer about a year ago, uninstalled it after a few weeks and have just purchased another g2. When I try to install it, or anything else for that matter, I get a message that reads...

16-bit ms-dos
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application.

It now does this on anything I try to install. I typed the statement on microsofts web knowledge base and it told me to re-install the autoexec file, the config.nt file and/or the command.com file. I did all these and nothing helped.

Any suggestions before I wipe my computer clean and re-install windows and everything else.
Dell optiplex gx 150

256 meg ram
windows 2000 pro

Thanks for any input you can offer.

Upgrading to XP would be a good starting place.

I wouldn't bother with the clean whipe, just re-install windows on top of its current installation. That way you only lose the shortcuts, but all the software on the machine stays installed and you lose nothing.

not sure it would even boot with xp and only 256 meg ram.
It had a virus or something and stopped working about a year ago, so it was wiped clean and everything re-installed. Worked just fine until now. Not showing any viruses now, but who knows.
