Right now I’m using an O.S. 50 directly to the muffler (hatori #510). Is it strictly necessary to use a gasket in order to make it run fine??
If so what should I get??

Thank's

I have had success with the thin aluminum one
but now I lap the header flange on a lapping plate
with abrasive to get a good metal to metal fit

I have to go with Ted, some use them some don't, i have and didn't get on to well with them on some engine to muffler setups, but others worked. I don't use them anymore but thats no reason not to try it yourself.

I used to use Red Permatex...but now I use the heat & torque method. So far it's working pretty well.
