I run my Airwolf and Vario Benzin on 3 servo 120 using a JR PCM 10 Tx.

I've also ran 3 servo 90, neither has presented any problems.

Due to the size of the head / blade combination and the forces that will be exerted on this in flight i would recomend very strongly that you use Vario's original 4 servo set up.
I found the following mixes to achieve this on a past thread.
Hope this helps
John.
Mix 51 Elev(M) - Aux2(S) Trim ON, Norm, Offset 0, (-100), (-100)
Mix 52 Aile (M) - Pit (S) Trim ON, Norm, Offset 0, (-100), (-100),
Mix 55 Pit (M) - Elev (S) In 0=Out 100, In 100 = Out (-100), Linear
Mix 56 Pit (M) - Aux2(S) In 0=Out 100, In 100 = Out (-100), Linear
Mix 57 Pit (M) - Aile (S) In 0=Out 100, In 100 = Out (-100), Linear

Yep that is the setup I came up with in 1998 for a 4 servod Kobold that was going into an Airwolf fuse. I have used it on many Vario helis and it has always worked out for me.
