I did not hear of Ernie's passing. Ernie was a great pioneer and will be missed by me. I had the fortune to experience his generosity and expert experience on a few occasions. There are many (most) who are quite helpful but few with his depth of knowledge. I knew Ernie in the late 70's when he was chosen to fly the helicopters in the towering inferno movie. He built and flew for some of that but ended up asking my original airplane instructor Art Gallant to fly the rest of the movie as he was busy elsewhere.

I am saddened to hear of his passing but feel privileged to have known him. Thanks Jim for dedicating this funfly to Ernie. He usually made the trip back here just to visit old friends and make this funfly.

Hello everyone,

I have an annoucement to make regarding the EHM fun fly. Recently I was informed that the catering truck that has been at the event (Crow Island) for years will not be able to make it this year. They are having difficulties and won't have their truck on the road in time for the event. I have contacted a few other catering truck operators but they aren't interested unless I can promise that there'll be 150 - 200 people minimum. Given the nature of these events being weather driven I can't make that promise to them.

This is very unfortunate but luckily not a show stopper. As always people are welcome to bring their own food. I only ask that grills be limited to gas grills only please. I will have soda and water available and there are several pizza/sub shops very close by, and most of them deliver. I will be contacting shops in the area this week and collecting menus from the ones that will deliver to the field. I will also place orders for people that don't have cell phones if needed.

I am very sorry for this inconvenience and hope that it will not effect anyones decision to attend.

Thank you.

Sat - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (later if enough people still want to fly)

Sun - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The pilots' meeting will be at or around 9:00 depending on if people are still getting signed in or not.

Bump!

Would just like to remind people that this is a 2 day event and we had
a great time yesterday although it was it bit 'toasty' out ( I think it
got to 96 or 99 out ).

this is a great event w/ good people and the emphasis
on 'fun' and 'fly'!!!

We'll be flying till around 5 today and the swimming water was
a cool 78. Bring a bathing suit!

Reminder: unfortunately, there is no on-field catering this year but
PapaGino's does !! deliver.

We'd like to thank RCHover, Jeff from Altech, Vario, JR and Quick for coming
out and supporting us.

I'd like to thank everyone that came to the fun fly. All of you made it a special time for Ernie's wife, Mary.

A special thanks goes to Ron of Ricks' RC, Billy of Bedford Helicopter, Irwin of Quick World Wide, and Eric from JR for their generous donations to the door and raffle prizes. You guys made it come together.

I'd also like to thank Mr. Hirobo, Jeff Green of MRC/Altech for coming and putting on a demo flight with his Vertol. That was very impressive to see in the air.

It was a blistering weekend but there was still a lot of flying done. The machines did very well even with the high humidity. Hopefully next time we'll get something a little nicer.

A special thanks to Howard for helping throughout the entire event.

So once again, thank you to all and looking forward to see everyone next year.
