But your needles is set, before that, right?

I tune my engine with the GV-1 on. Works for me. I have also read that some of the top pilots do the same, but don't know if that is true or not.

I take baby steps on the needles I promise.

I engage the GV-1 after a few tanks to sort most things out.

You should set up the needles with the governor off,for 1 reason is with the needles rich for breakin the barrel will be opened further to get the headspeed up. As you lean the motor the governor will close the barrel to compensate to lower the headspeed. Idle up 1 should not be a problem, but setting a low headspeed might be in normal, if the barrel doesnt get to the 40% mark or close to it,it will be using the idle needle only. I would suggest using a throttle curve for normal untill the motor is broken and the needles are set.you should have your throttle curves set in case the governor fails anyway. You might have to adjust your pitch curve in normal to get the headspeed you want with a higher barrel opening, if you dont have enough pitch the governor will close to barrel to satisfy the headspeed.

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE..IF YOU LIVE IT RIGHT THATS ALL YOU NEED

I do have throttle curves behind the GV-1.

I am not an expert at all on this, but it seems to be working just fine. I think it is possible to tune the engine with the GV-1 engaged, once the engine is tuned with the GV-1 there should be a problem? Or is the GV-1 playing games with me then?
