I'm debating on buying another heli. I currently have a Raptor 60, but I've been debating on getting a Sceadu 50 for my second machine.

There wouldn't be a big price difference for the initial cost of kit and engine between the two.

I was wondering about parts. How do they compare on price of parts. If parts are about the same, I would think a 60 would be better than a 50.

nice reply.......
well......for sure the Sceadu!! Read some posts here!!!! It's a great Heli and many enjoy it, just not some 'non' people. I have been totally impressed.
But like I said, read some posts and get a feel for the people writing them. Most have really been pleased they have one..............or two.

The Sceadu is a fine machine dispite Elads bad luck with it. He just crashed his. tisk tisk, I'm surprised he hasn't tried to blame the mid-air collision he had on the Sceadu too.

Just messing with you Elad

For what it's worth I love my Sceadu. Having 2 of the same machines in ones fleet can be boring.

all along the heli flyes bad.
I was flying thise succer 3 months
I bend 3 spindles(in air) , thise heli should be sold in sex shop
it's a vibrator not a heli.
about the mid air collision it's only 100$ damage and it's alredy
fixed.. but the heli stayed the same.
in my flying field we have 3 50's and 1 30, the sceadu 30 flyes well
but the 50's are flying vibrators.
when I purchase thise heli I intented to do some 3D with it
today if the vibrations is less then 1/2 inch I'm very happy
not 1 not 2 , 3 helis don't wrong
if when one buying a heli and need a workshope jast to keep the heli
going ... the heli sucks.

My Sceadu has ZERO vibes, so does the 30 I built.

Have you ever tried balancing the fan, Head, tail rotor, blades? How about dial indicating the clutch shaft?

What a coincidence. I was in your shoes earlier this year. I was debating which smaller machine to get. I had my R60 for a few months then I got a Sceadu 50 (actually a 46) as another machine. I love flying both of them. The R60 is big and impressive and the Sceadu can be whipped around like a hotrod.

Go to my gallery to find the link to my web page. The heli section has them both listed there. You won't be disappointed with the Sceadu. It is as trouble and maintennace free as my R60. These are fuel and fly machines. Other than just going over them to make sure all is in order I haven't had to do anything to them.

As for cost comparisons for crashes I think it's a toss up. Raptor parts are relatively inexpensive but the cost to repair after a crash is dependent on how hard it goes in. I've had crashes in the past that on the surface seemd minor but as I got deeper in they ended up costing more. I've found that the cost for repairs is pretty unilateral across the board when you consider everything (parts that typically break, dealer where you buy them from, heli manuifacturer, etc.) IMO if you have to nickel and dime it then maybe R/C isn't for you. The old addage 'you get what you pay for' really holds true in this hobby.

If you do get a Sceadu you won't regret it.

volkul, the rotors are pre balanced
and for the other parts never.
I don't have the tools to do that, except of the sceadu i saw other heli brands that fly greay without pre balanced the parts from the factory.

Raptor 60-I have both machines and without a doubt would buy a Rap.again,I believe the Sceadu is an overhyped and overpriced POS.Also nothing auto's better than a 60 size machine.Jason Kalbfleisch

Raptor 60
If you can afford the fuel consumption then any 60 would be the way to go. The Raptor 60 is a GREAT buy. After all, it is close to the cost of a Sceadu 50 but swings an extra 80mm of blades.

If it weren't for my limited funds lately I wouldn't even bother with having a 50. The 60 class is just a whole new level and they fly AWESOME.

I love my R60. I am more confident flying it than I was my Fury. I like the lower priced machines lately. I'll deal with the issues surrounding plastic if that is what I have to do to lower my costs. After all, I don't get any paychecks from this HOBBY and the kid's college fund is definetly more important. So, the R60 is a FANTASTIC choice. So is the Freya if you don't mind the power/weight issue.

Seado 50??
The Sceado 50 is a nice heli, but may I suggest that you take a serious look at the Century Falcon 50 SEV2 or the CCPM version Raven 50.

Advantage differences:
1) The Century's come with 600mm fiberglass/Carbon Fiber composite blades that are dynamically very stable. (no leading of any consequence) so they have no pitch up issues in FFF.
2) They come with a full metal swashplate instead of a combination metal and composite unit.
3) They come with a carbon fiber shaft drive
4) They come with triple bearing tail rotor grips
5) They come with a start shaft that stops turning after the engine starts.
6) They come with a slipper clutch. If you want a Constant Drive Tail you can get one the option for only $45.00.
7) It comes with wide stance heavy duty landing gear.
8) With the CDT it sells for only $400.00.

You can see what some of the owners are saying about it in the Century forum here on Runryder.

Well worth considering
