Just returned fron the Texas Fun Fly...It was GREAT!!! Thanks to the Fort Worth Thunderbirds for the use of that beautiful field, kudos to Chris Bernardi and the whole HeatWave crew...a laid back and Fantastically Fun time was had by the Shreveport gang! Highlights included a visit by a Full Size MD 269/300 and he Bell 222 Lifeflight helo ( are all Flight Nurses Hottties???)! Anthony Jager provided the Grass trimming, Concrete-scraping, O-My-God 3D that kept the crowd at once in Rapt attention and still ready to turn and run...Nathen from Rick's R/C flew day and night in the most fluid and precise manner that could be imagined...the way Nathen flys make me want to go home and practice being Ssmmooootthhhh...simply entertaining! Len Mount ( Mr Scale from England, if you've seen any of the last three James Bond films that had helis in them, Len modeled and flew them!!!) had a Bell JetRanger Turbine he flew before the event started ( Friday). Words fail me... a Turbine Jetranger flown by a real master...also in attendence was a fellow from Austria flying for Jetcat, WOW! Ever seen a Turbine Heli loop? Me Did!!! The Satuerday auto contest ended for me as my second try ( out of three) ended about 24" out from the mark...Ron Lund shows the skill of someone who loves...'scuse me... LOVES to auto! And it shows! On Sunday morning came the Drag Racing...Anson Hargrove, Andy from Aero Hobbies and Ron from Rick's have taken the Trophy every time this event was held...today would either Crown a new winner or give a first repeat. I arrived at the field early and got a throttle/pitch curve I thought was fast programed into my radio...just when I thought I had it 'goin on Mr. Lund came out and proceeded to instruct me in the nuances of go-fast! By the time he left me on the Runway I had a SCARY FAST heli...unfortunantly it takes BIG BRASS to put your heli 85.555 degrees to the concrete at .02 feet for 600 feet at FULL THROTTLE...you guessed it, first round; Chris go bye-bye. Sorry Ron, I'll do better next time! BTW Anson Hargrove won, and with the group he had for competion that was no small feat!!! Thanks to Absolute Hobbies for the on site parts...whoever came up with the idea of the Mist Tent deserves thanks too...all in all it was a terriffic event! Again; Thank you Thunderbirds, your're a class act! Chris

It was a good Fun Fly. However, I was disappointed that the Saturday night BBQ was canceled.

I had a great time! The turnout was great, the weather was sunny and I didn't see a single crash the entire event. The Vario turbine was impressive as was Len's Jet Ranger.

It was great pleasure spending a little time chatting with Len Mount about scale helicopters, he's a great guy and will share his wealth of knowledge with you any chance he gets.

Thanks to Chris, Nige, Greg and the whole TB gang for hosting another great event at the lake.

BTW_ I have video of the Vario turbine form start to finish with a full review of the workings of the system from the Vario Jet Rep who is a great guy but I never got his name. He's from Austria but now living and working in CA. Possibly LA but I'm not sure.. I'll try to get it into the computer and sample the video down to some highlights.

Anthony Jager reminded everyone attending why he was "invited" to the XFC last month, he and his Fury are truely one in flight, he's amazing and he's getting better.

He holds those long knife-edge vertical drops until the blades nearly strike the ground and flips out of it inverted at the absolute last instant and it doesn't look possible yet he just did it.. milliseconds..

Big fun, can't wait to do it again next year.
