To heck with a POLL!!!

JUST list what you think is the BEST for someone who already knows how to hover. Do some FF. A little nose in. AND who what's a ship that will last longer than 6 months.

OH and don't forget to list WHY you think it's the best.

Raptor 30. Stable trainer, and with a couple of upgrades, it's a solid 3Der. Parts readily available and cheap.

X-cell all the way !
If the cost doesn't bother you then get an X-cell 30/40 size heli. They use mainly 60 size parts which makes them very durable.I also like the fact you can put a 46 or a 50 in it and not have to change the gear ratios. An OS 50sx-h would rock in an X-cell 30 providing an abundance of power for anything you could ever throw at it.There are many fine helis out there and this is only my opinion!//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\

Nothing against any of the other brands but, I'd have to say I prefer the Sceadu again.

WHY???
It's built to handle the rigors of a 50-size engine and should last even longer with a good 32 in it.

My 50 has been thru 2 hard crashes and 2 other soft ones and it still flies like it did when it was new 7 months ago. I have yet to replace a bearing and the only things replaced are broken in the above mentioned incidents.

There are 3 NEW never RCed flyers in my area training on them now and all are doing pretty well. I also know some guys flying other brands and they are doing well also.

It comes down to what you want, if you can get service, and if the heli appeals to your eye.

Anyone that's flown the Most Popular Raptor and then the Sceadu can attest to the stable but fully 3D capable Sceadu. If you haven't flown both don't jump in and comment like you know one is the absolute BEST over all others. There is no such thing!

While both are great ships, It's hard to beat the service provided by MRC-Hirobo in the USA.

Yes, I am Hirobo biased and have flown/owned both heli's mentioned as well as some Century heli's.

I say go with the Sceadu 50 (30 sized mechanics) and if you get it from Heliproz they have an excellent price on the combo with the OS 50.

I just finished putting mine together. I started yesterday afternoon and finnished with the stickers early this evening... Tomarrow morning I will be breaking it in and flying it. I have seen these things fly and I am impressed with its capabilities so I know I won't be disappointed in flying it for the first time.

Century Hawk IV.
Cheaper and better. No woof no poof no clutch breaking no aligning clutch, no start shaft spinning during flight, good swash, lots of BB, etc.

Want to know how to start a flame war, just ask what's the best helicopter, you won't get much usefull information asking that question. This site has a huge data base just do a search for each helicopter you are interested in and read all you can about them and make your choice.

How ever if you wanted to start a flame war just ignore all that jibberish I wrote

The Kalt Baron 30 S was one of the better 30 machines, but Kalt is going the way of the dinosaurs.

New kid on the block!!!!
I think the best 30 size ship out there, is the JR Venture , it comes with the CCPM style swashplate, and is very well designed. Flies great, looks good, great service from Horizonhobby. Can take you from trainer to 3D style flying, with the included upgrades. Daz...

Can I vote twice? I have a Raptor 30 and an X-Cell 30. I like them both.

I'd go with the Century Hawk IV. I've had Lite Machines (toys) Nexus, Shuttle and the Hawk. I think the Hawk is easy to fly, fairly low maint. and parts are cheap for the beginner.

If you are talking inexpensive you should go with the caliber 30. I just go mine all dialed in yestarday and it flies great. It comes with a metal motor mount and a decent muffler. The other plus is you can pick mechanical or electronic ccpm so if you dont have an expensive radio and dont have to go out and buy one. I had mine set up by an MA rep and he was very impressed by it. Of course he made flying look easy.

SafeCracker, sell the X-Cell 30?
No! You can't have her. A month ago, I may have had a different answer. After 25 flights on it, it's finally dialed in or at least real close. No fault of the heli, just the guy maintaining it. Fighting an engine gradually going lean was the main issue. That's resolved, now. A new set of Ergo 46 blades on her have helped to bond our relationship!
