Oh ALVIN --- I didn't know you could be so heart-less.. hehehe I got so fed up with everyone wanting this setup and that setup instead of actually learning how to do it themselves. I mean I would show them what I was doing and why I was doing it that way. Then two weeks later they would be right back asking me how to set this up again. I actually wasn't getting much flying done because I would spend half the day helping those who wouldn't help themselves.

I still enjoy helping people, but not for the entire weekend when I want to be BSing and Flying.

My solution was to make a cut-off time to help the newbies or lazies. I go to the field very early -- sunrise. Several other people don't show till 9, 10, noon or whenever and they want me to stick around to help them. My cut-off time is 0900. If you didn't get there early and ask me early then you are out of luck until the next day. I also offer my home during the week if they want some one on one time. A little mini heli clinic if you will. That way it doesn't take away from the precious weekend flying.

NO Jeff, I don't think Kam was talking about heli folks like you. But when you have progressed enough to be comfortable to help other newbies, Hands On, then you'll know who he and most of us are talking about.

We've had at least 12 new people trying out heli's in our area in the last 6 months. 7 or 8 are tring to do it right. The others will be gone by the end of the year cause they $pend all their time on repairs on Ebay junk rather than flying. Note: not all Ebay stuff is junk as I have bought several heli's there and I don't feel burned at all. Research is the key!

BTW Congrats to you on your progress and determination!

Clarification
Cat out of the BAG!

My orginal post was a nice way of saying it isn't right to bash Rick's
for an Ancedotal incident of not being available for part support or
tech questions!

Looking at the Big picture and all the posts are a testimony of
how great they really are.

My post is simply an observation that people are always quick
to blame others for their problems.

i.e. I had a crash and someone must have turned their radio on my
channel. or I had an defective part and that was what caused my bird
to crash. God forbid it was pilot error!

We have a guy out at our field that has dedicated his life to help others
fly helicopters(at no charge) and a modeler has taken him to court before because the student crashed while the instructor was helping! (True Story) and
wanted the instructor to pay for his bird! The instructor won in small
claims court.

All I am saying is when people complain let's sift it out until we find out
the truth, just like with Ricks! The truth is more times than not they are
one of the best hobby shops in our country!

Best Regards
Kam

You are way off Base!

As per my last post the guy that was bashing ricks because he could
not get tech advice!

My whole point is Quit belly aching and blaming others and pick up
the damn phone and call another vendor and get the answers! and
quit running down Ricks!

I am not bashing beginers! they are essential to our hobby!

Shame on You! Get the facts strait! I'm not blaming beginers!
or those who need help!

My point is quit being a spoiled brat and say im taking my toys and going home if you don't play the way I want!

That's exactly what this is all about!!

What would you do?
What if some one could provide you with indisputable proof about one store or the others lack ability to get an order right?

Would you be so bold in your statements? People form opinions and get frustrated about many things, some folks road rage, some forum rage. Maybe some stores need a little wake up call once in a while. Perhaps this is a good place to let your favorite shop know that you aren’t happy and oh by the way neither are these other guys.

I think in these forums some folks are way to quick to come to the defense of some stores also to quick to hammer others.

Everyone’s experiences out there in RC Heli land are different. Personally I think some guys who have been around for a while might just be so stuck in a rut that they have forgotten what it's like to be new. Thankfully I am still new enough to remember what that new guy is going through. But I am not so old that I am unwilling to help and share my knowledge.

More Basura compliments
Heres a letter from a satisfied customer off of the basura website:

Dear Mr Socuradoog
I ams happy w my new Basura heli,If I crash its a breeze to get parts from Home Depots and Lowes, and WalMart Supercenters which are open 24/7
I like the idead how you incorporated a built in crash parts removal system in the heli as I can cleans up the runaway without pissing off the airplanes dudes.
Home depot cuts tailbooms for me in kustom lengths, and theyre always friendly and I alwees get the rite part cause its in my face.
WalMart wants to help me alwees, and they dosent get mad when i show them my moped licenses for id to cash checks
I was confusing about the landing lite assembelies and had to go to the korean restarant for someone to read me the finer print.I used 110 Volts at first but found it wont fly w a extenshun cord. The cord is too heavy and wont let me fly all the 3D's manoovers at nite.
I like the idea odf using methane gas to power this heli, the only question I have is now that I'm out of methane,I need further instruckshin on how to get the funnel/gas tube assy Basura Part #489 in to the animals supply port to get more free fuel, especially it hurts when the cow w black and white spots kicks me.
Thank you for making such a greta heli and beinds so nice to me
honorably yours

I love this hobby and while I studied R/C helis for a year and read every single thing I could before I even got my first heli, I recognize the way the hobby has turned. While HH gyros are awesome, learning to fly the tail at first with a normal gyro is great and helps to get total coordination rather than just point and play. I think people should learn to fly a piezo as far as they can and then when they get a HH gyro they APPRECIATE it! I know I did, it was like I saw the light at the end of the tunnel when I got my first HH gyro after almost 2 years and 5 or 6 piezo gyros later.

Sometimes, I can be a part finatic and if a hobby shop screws something up and I'm down I go into denial. Sometimes it gets pretty bad and I'll spend a whole night (5 to 6 hours) on the simulator just to get some sort of satisfaction that I actually did something that day. Thats right, unless I get one flight in a day I feel the whole day has just gone to waste. I really love this hobby and being down because of a part really gets me down. Today I was down because of a malfuntioning starter and the hobby shop didn't have one in stock, plus other things have kept me from flying today. I'm about to lose my mind The sims gonna be on all night tonight, that I know for sure. I'm sick, but I love it!!!!

Happy Flying!

If you get too happy with a hobby shop or product and they read it then they might believe it. Then they think any complaints or negative comments must be from left field and ignore them. I don't think any of them are perfect, should not be told they are perfect, or taken for granted that they are perfect. While it is not proper to flame them, pointing out problems that you see can only help them. I can't do business with someone just because he/she is willing to shake my hand at a funfly. But if they know why I can't do business with them then they can do two things. They can make changes to get my business or they can decide that my business is not worth changing for. Either way is fine with me and companies make those choices all the time. In fact, if they could handle all of it in a way that suits everyone then they wouldn't have any competition. Now where can I get this hot new basura?

Basura 60 sucks....
Howdy!!!
Everyone knows the Basura 60 sucks.. They are imported by that big hobby conglomerate B.F.I. (Big Flying Inventions).. The big problem with them is inverted flight.. The giant lid on the canopy flops open and rubs against the rotor blades, making it difficult to hover.. Worse yet, the insides of the model fall out and crash through the blades, which, in turn, then spray the (smelly) contents all over the pilot and any bystanders.. This has allready resulted in many angry confrontations between plank fliers and heli flyers and has caused at least one heli flyer his rights to the field...

I'm sure it's been said
But I keep all my parts after I crash in a Tupperware bowl until I can sort them out (how I love those snap on lids !). Granted I am new and can hover quite well. I can keep the rabid thing in a 1 foot by 1 foot cube. I have had the bird for like 2 months,3 gallons , 2engines (melted the tt-36 thanks to being stupid) and I still can't do loops !!! (lol)

Kam, it irritates me when people in the service business complain about providing service. It seems to me that vendors would be grateful for the business. When you run a service business you need to plan ahead. Vendors should anticipate what they need to stock. It is poor management when vendors can’t plan what there customers may need.

Twguns, I think you may have been misinformed. I have heard that some of the pilots invited themselves. This may or may not have been the case of Kam.

As for stock machines, with the exception of Curtis I think most of the machines were stock. Maybe you are surprised that Kam was there competing with a very poorly set-up machine.

As for how he preformed, I think his placement tells all. Way to go Kam!

Millibee, If I had intended to apologize, I could have done it for myself. Thank you very much!

As for unfounded, I was there where were you? Did you see the event or were you still at home waiting for parts? However, I think it’s nice of you to congratulate Kam for dead last place.

Kam, Maybe after this you will realize that the customer is always right.

Man you are Freaking out!

Where is this coming from about vendors complaining. I must have
missed something in this thread.

Your personal opinion about me is fine, you don't know anything about
the way my helicopters are set-up or have any reason what so ever
to attack me! Because you disagree about my post has given you no
right to attack me by saying good little rep, etc.

You started all of the BS by slaming me with your positive outlook on the hobby!

My point of the thread was it is unfair to slam dealers without knowing
all the facts. You and blackdog to get together and fly.

Check and see if there is a local optimist club in your area!

I am interested who in the service industry is complaining about
providing service?
