can a low rxbattery be the cause of my latest butt squeeze. Heli was up high just doing curcuits when it stopped responding. Flew away about 200ft and I'd given her up to the heli gods when suddenly she started to respond. I turned her round then lost all control again. Heli is now heading for my truck at a 45degree angle. I run towards the truck and about 50 feet away again gain control and land about 10 yards away. I then go home and lie down. I checked the rx nicad and it was low but still had some juice in it. Obviously I want to find the prob before another flight so ...battery to low or should I be looking for something else any one had a similar thing happen ?

Cheers

Whats Low
What do you consider low. I know 4.75 with a load is time to charge. I know my youngest boy flew his heli at 4.4 and was wondering why the tail servo was so slow.

allan,
I think you answered my Q. If the heli only responds slowly to a low battery then it wasnt my prob as there was no reponse at first then there was etc. When it did respond I was able to land normally. Maybe I've a major glitch somewhere.

Cheers

You either locked out or you had a power supply interuption!

Check your switch and power wires for an intermittant contact. The switch is the one to look out for

If its a glitch you can put an allen key in a dremel tool and subject different parts of the heli to vibration, when the radio locks out start looking near where the vibrating dremel tool is!

Also check the aerial and do a proper range check to confirm its not that.

Cheers, Will.

A low battery will definitely do that. If your using a heading hold gyro the first indication is usually a twitch from side to side of the tail. Then a piroette or 2 then its gone for the most part. If you leave it sit with the switch off for few minutes the battery will recover somewhat because it no longer has a load on it, so it may appear after you got home that there may have been enough juice left. The time to check your battery level would have been immmediately after the incident occured and before you turned off the battery switch. Chalk it up to a learning experience.
