I've never ordered from them and I probably never will now.! Do you guys who order from them have a terribly hard time getting in touch with anyone except the receptionist, Ron's and Nathan's mailbox???

Here's my story I called them because I was interested in the Auto Hub and the modified tail and main gears for the Raptor 30. I have a few questions about the installation of those parts and the actual part numbers, total amount of the purchase etc,......... BUT never get to talk to anyone experience with the heli's except for the receptionist and she donesn't know anything about them!!! I'm not one to try and explain myself over someone's mailbox. I like to talk to actual people when trying to figure out what I'm actually going to purchase. I tried at least 3 times! The final straw was that I explained myself to the receptionist that I would like to talk them about the parts etc and she agreed but could not find them. I said well I've never order from you guys before and would like to speak with either Ron or Nathan. All she could do is transfer me to their voice mails. I said I guess I'll take my business elsewhere and she said all rude sounding "Do ya wanna hold on or not" I realized at that point I don't want to do business with a company like that!

Sorry I'm POed!

guess I'll go with the slipper clutch from Heliproz

I have bought a bunch of stuff from them, and yes, they are not immediately available for your call, but they have ALWAYS called me back with the correct information.

I don't mind the wait. They are definitely on my list of top three places to buy stuff from.

I'll second that -- They have always been very helpful to me. SOmetimes people really are "Unavailable" to take your call.

Don't let one incident ruin your impression of someone or something. Maybe a second or third time you can call it quits...

Blackdog:

Do you think these people do is wait for you to phone and ignore the other things that it takes to keep a business up in running in todays world of doing more with less?

Do you think you are the only one that calls them and is asking to talk to them?

You quit before giving them the chance to call you back. If you did give them your name and phone number they will call you. Remember that when they call you back it is on thier dime, not yours.

Hint: the world does not revolve around you. You are just one just one person amongst many. Their time will be shared with you, but you must be willing to wait your turn. So give them a call back, leave a message with your name and phone number. If they don't call you back only then will you have a true legitimate gripe that could be aired publically.

Boy you guys are tuff!
Post one message about an experience and you get responses like "They'll call you back on their dime not yours" .Cassini was I complaining about the price of the call??? Maybe I did quit before giving them a chance. Oh and thanks for the Hint Cassini It sounds like you should drop me some more hints.. I think I'll listen to you . NO the world doesn't revolve around me. But it is my opnion that I like to speak to actual people not automated services or peoples mailbox when I have a question. I understand that they run two business under one name.

We should probably end this thread. I understand that most of you get good service from them. I will try again. But let's not let this thread turn into a Blackdog bashing session..

Thanks,

Rick's service
I must also jump on the "good guys" bandwagon.

I will agree that it is tough to get hold of Ron or Nathan, but when you do get them on the phone, it is obvious why it is so.
They are not afraid to spend a little time with you to explain, or talk with you about whatever you happen to be calling about.

I talk to them all time on account there shop is up the street. as far as getting in touch with them, yes its hard they are the ONLY 2 there that a clue about heli's. you should do like the rest leave a msg and they will get back with. i asure you are not the only person on the face of this earth that wants to talk to them. they are very busy people. like my dadd always, to this day,be patient, good things come to those who wait.

Someone (usually Nathan) calls me right back every time....usually within an hour after I leave a message. I never had any problems.

Blackdog, you want to hear attitude just call Min Air you will get a lady there tell her what you want but tell her you dont have the part numbers. Then see what polite is. Ricks has a website you can order thru it, if you have a parts prob post it here we LOVE to explain to nice patient fellow pilots how things work.

What did you expect! If anyone have been in this hobby for any length of time and used mailorder services they will know about Rick's, Heliproz, etc. As the more experienced flyers out there know, some are good (I include both those mentioned) and some not so good. So if you slam a merchant that most find very good you should expect people will take issue with you.

Mark my vote down for "Rick's"

Imasleeper,

I wouldn't say "I was slamming them" I opened the message asking if anyone has a hard time getting in touch directly with the guys at Rick's and then went on to explain my experience that I had.

Totally understand...
I know exactly what you are talking about. The point isn't that they are busy, it's the point that you can't get a hold of them when you need them. When I call to spend obscene amounts of money, I expect someone, who knows what they are talking about, to pick up the phone and be able to answer my questions. I personally don't do business with companies that I have to leave messages and wait for a call back. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of me calling in the first place. That is a waist of my time. Especially when there are other companies that I can call and someone will answer the phone and answer my questions accordingly.

Just my opinion

Sure looks that way to me.

I know both Ron and Nathan personally, and am pretty close to Ron; and sometimes it takes hours for him to get back to me when I call. He returns calls in the order in which they were taken; and if it is a "bad" day he might have HUNDREDS of calls back-logged. Mondays are especially "bad"; guys who tore their stuff up over the week-end are looking for parts and consolation...

The point is that, in addition to fielding phone inquiries such as yours, they also do other things. Nathan keeps up with the on-line store, while Ron handles all the administrative side of the business; ordering new stock, paying bills, etc.

You do what you want. But if you decline to do business with Rick's solely because they weren't immediately available to answer your questions, you are hurting yourself; not them.

And Susan (the receptionist) is a sweet, gentle lady. If she was rude to you, I'll bet big money you were a jerk to her first...

Steve,

Nothing against you but you are offering a bias opnion! period.
And like I said I wasn't slamming them. Let me reiterate (sp) I asked you guys if you had a hard time being able to talk to people directly at Rick's and then went on to tell you my experience. That's it! Don't make something out of nothing. Some of ya have nothing better to do then pick apart someone's post like a bunch of internet lawyers. I took my business else where to heliproz and purchased the Slipper clutch. I was able to talk directly to Joel who gave me GREAT customer service and offer some additional information and setup tips. You know I'm not new to RC and have been flying Airplanes for 5 years but I'm very new to Heli's.

BTW I didn't read the end of your post until now and No I wasn't a jerk to her. I treat others the way I would expect them to treat me!

Thanks for your opnions I respect them!

Rick's ROCKS!!!!!!

Ron Lund was Man of the Year last year for IRCHA.

There are very few individuals who support the industry as well as Ron and Nathan.

I have always found that if they are not available, then leave a message and they always CALL YOU BACK!!!!!

Ricks is the best, PERIOD.

I know it's been beat to death already but I'd like to chime in. Over time these guys actually get to know their customers whether they've met you in person or not. They're about the most knowledgeable on all the different makes of Helis out there. Last week I made an order. I over looked a small item I needed and couldn't find on the web site. So I called and left Nathan a message. He called me back, I asked him if they still had item X, he replied, "Yes, the part number is XX." I told him I’d take it. He ask me how I wanted it shipped? I said, just throw it in the mail. Granted it was only a $5 part that I forgot to order in the first place. I told him to put it on the same card as I had used the other day. I said Thanks, he said Thanks and have a good day. No more, phone call was over. He knew who I was, what I was after, didn't have to repeat my address, card number or nothing. And I've never met any of the crew at Rick's in person. That's a Business!! I did a search of the web store after the call on the part number and there it was. I have first hand experience in Hobby Shops. My Family distributed model products from 74 to about 96 on the west coast. Grew up in our shop. We tried hard to remember all cliental, but the crew at Rick’s takes the cake IMHO.
I just checked my card balance and all he charged me for shipping on that one parts was a Buck. Not bad, Not bad at all..

While I had a pleasant experience with Ricks, I agree that they seemed a little disorganized trying to talk to them at first. Oh well, I got my stuff on time and it wasn't that bad so its all water under the bridge.
