I have been running my OS91 on CP 30% but I am going through fuel like it's nothing. So I have been starting to mix my 30% with 15% to give me 22%. I have also heard of people running on straight 15%. Does the engine still run good on that. I'm thinking I may want to do this for cost reasons. What do you guys run?

I am running 0% Nitro with 12% Klotz Super Techniplate oil and Enya #4 plug Hatori 700 pipe and header. At 8 flights per gallon I would spend 40 to 50 dollars every time I fly. I buy methanol from a local Sprint car racer and mix my own. $1.50 per gallon of Methanol

Hi,

16% Oil, no nitro, will change to 12% Oil soon. Nitro is just plain expensive here!

Regards,

Andi

Last year I get two OS 91 and put one in the raptor and used CP 30!
No luck Good in air, but no good in the hover!
This year I put the other in my Freya EXWC with the Hyper Head and used CP 12.5% and WOW this things go
Beautiful and soft in hover and dead solid in idling!
I use the new Hatori 988 mufler!
I sod my new YS 80 today becouse I will use the OS instead!!
There is only two engines to be used my friend says!
And that is new or used OS

I realy miss Kalt Helies

To the guys running the lower nitro in the OS .91
what gear ratio are you using and what size blades, also can you still pull over 11 deg of pitch?
what other mods did you do to make it work on 15%?
The reason i ask was i switched from 30% cool power and tried 15% cool power and the motor just did not run up to par, went back to 30% and now it runs just fine, any ideas?
Thanks..............JOHN

I didn't do any mods. Just puts some CP 12.5 in it ran it in and flew it.

What do you mean it didn't run up to par? You still need MORE POWER? Jesus if I lean the 91 out on 12.5% I can throw plenty of nasty stuff at it and it holds it so well I dont feel the need to go to any higher nitro. I'm using 680mm blades Hattori muffler, running it very rich and at max pitch I'm using about 90% throttle, pitch range of +9.5 to -9.5 in idle ups.

Cheers, Will.

I did no mods, run 10% on 710 MS Carbons pulling 10.5 degrees with ease.
I get between 10-11 mins on a tank.

the power was down on 15% but i had it set for -11 and +11 that might have been my power issue.
as far as mods i meant like the hyper head or perry pump.
mine just seemed like it was not happy.

OS 91 performance
5% Coolpower
OS #8 plug
Zimmerman 90 muffler
Gear ratio 7.92 on Freya
head speed 1400, 1500 and 1750 on Futaba GV1
1.0 - 1.25 turns out on needle, low needle as factory set.
660mm blades
Pitch range -10 to + 10 ( no bogging)
Flying time 16 -18 mins

I cannot understand why people are using 30% or even 15%. This motor does not need it! Are you trying to get your helis into orbit? You may as well burn away your dollars.

Shagga,

remember that in the US where most of these bods are from, 30% is dirt cheap comparativeley to our UK prices so they can simply afford to fly 30%!

Cheers, Will.

heli4me,
I was supposed to tell you to leave your fuel as is! Stay with CP 30% and fly it. You like the way it behaves on CP 30% so don't fix whats not broken. You spend a small fortune on this hobby don't worry about alittle bit extra for the 30%......

My motto is this..Fly...Rebuild...Fly

Yep you are right, i did tell you to not let me start playing around with fuel again, i was just trying to find out why my motor has this nasty expensive obsession with 30% and the others don't !
