Well, I like my heli in my house where I can see and admire it. The smell of petrol alone is enough to discourage me. Besides, I can't get the free/flying time to burn up a large glow fuel bill of the magnitude reported commonly on RR. I should have such problems!

The pros most likely aren't pushing gassers because they like the power to weight ratio of the glo engines. The gas engines are making progress though and the power to weight is climbing. As far as the smell in your house, my gasser hangs in my livingroom with a plug in the vent line. It is very rare to smell any fumes in my house. The smell is there to let you know of flamable fumes in the air. If you can smell it you best air the place out.

Your right that they are not the most economical bird out there. The 30 size machines are quite cheap to run, and even cheaper to repair. For those of us that like the feel of the 60 size machine and burn a bunch of fuel in a season, the gasser really fits the bill (pun intended). They are about the same price to repair as the better 60 size machines.

HMMM, Do you mean that twin (Chris Bergen flew)? Or did I miss one out there? OH, 60 3D? I think that was one of Bergen's other reps, can't think of his name right now. I was flying the grey 60 3D with a flame job on the canopy. It is on the IRCHA tape.

As a note on my earlier comment, The only other reason for hanging my copters in the livingroom is because there are to many shap pokey things to keep it in my waterbed. LOL

For some of you that don't know & because Stepehen is not one to tout his qualifications, I will tell you that Stephen is to helicopter technical information what Curtis is to 3D & FAI flying. I'm not defending him or his information, just letting you know that his helicopter knowledge is exponentially higher than most. Having read his articles in MHW that contained gasser information as well as helicopter physics I believe that his information dissemination on helis is always based on facts or hands on knowledge. With the number of posts "spewing forth" incorrect information on various heli forums I think that having him post here is a definite good thing. IMPO
