I had pretty much decided on getting the Freya w/Ys 61stII. But everyone tells me that it won't have enough power (I fly at 4800FT). So I was debating planning on a YS80 or OS 91. My question is how bad they use the fuel??

think about it.. where do you live "(4800ft)", above sea level?, above what? .. whats the air density?

at any height you should soar with less power than you need .. collective mgmt is what may be needed in short for powered leveled flying unless if your trying speed durations for something you haven't explained to us so far..

a .80-.90 would do the job, but flying at halfstick or best 1-2+ pitch and soaring forward at that level would do it even better and not consume much fuel.. any 3d flying?, then the above still applies.

what is your goal?

My 91 uses fuel like it's going out of fashion. 10-11 mins and that's teh tank. A friend of mine with a 60 get's about 22-25 mins.

About $200 dollars a month in fuel? Thats about 10 gallons of CP 30% @ $20 a gallon. That means you fly about 120 gallons a year. Geez. How many flight do you get a day? Or do you burn all the fuel on the weekends.

OS91 in a Raptor 90. Gear ratio of 7.75:1 and 1750 headspeed. 24oz of 20% fuel lasts 12 minutes, another minute with the header tank. Basic aerobatics, a flip or two and high speed passes.

obsessions are easy to justify
RappyTappy,

The LHS stocks 20% helimix at $20.75.
(I'll have to ask them if I can buy in bulk next time I walk in...)

"How many flight do you get a day? Or do you burn all the fuel on the weekends."

I try to get 2 tanks during my lunch hour or 3-4 tanks after work unless I'm kayaking/spending time with my better half. Pretty fortunate that the local winds seldom exceed 15mph. If i'm grounded for a mechanical I can get a HeliProz order next day with default UPS ground.

My Freya .91 averages 10min. tank/header and 7-8 hops per gallon.
(5210ft density altitude for current conditions ;-)

Hi Ned...
I'm stoked to go flying after work....
remind me to give you a video....

Cheers...Jeff
