I am trying to track down the production date or at least get a general idea of it for a DS8417 servo that I have. What I would like to know is if anyone out there has purchased a new one within the last year and still has the original plastic box if they could look on the back of the box to see if there is a white sticker with a barcode on it. I would like to know what the number is. I am hoping going by this number I can deduce when this servo was made. Reason I am wondering is that the servo I have was NIB factory sealed but did not have the blue dot on it to show it had the motor update. I did however find out from Horizon that only the 2nd production run of the 8417's was affected by this bad motor and all newer productions did not get the blue dot put on them since they where not affected by the earlier bad batch of motors. I also find out that the latest 8417's are from the 5th production run. Unfortunatley they told me that they can not tell when a servo was made by the barcode sticker on the box but somehow I'm sure there is some information in the barcode so JR could tell when something was made or at least packaged. Other wise what's the sense to have it.
So if anyone could send me any barcode info they may still have from and 8417 servo and know when it was originally bought would be great. I'm just curious if I can figure this out.
It is pretty bad when a manufacturers rep. have no way of telling when a product they sell such as a highend digital servo was made don't you think?
