Well she finally got tagged by a bush and the ground !

Here's what happened :It was lunch time and I had enough time after eating to get some air time. Was on 2nd tank when the rest of the crew started to come back so I decided to get a little fancy and doing a pirroutte (spelling? (360's)) Did 1st one, was way smooth. Got the rappy back to a steady hover. Got some altitude and did another. That one went well. Third time I struck out ! Got around when wind picked up, thumb got stuck on stick, brain fade I dunno... but all the sudden I have on mad looking raptor looking at me eye to eye ! Ack ! I can't do nose in. As I stark to panic the thing is heading right toward me and the people standing close by. I yell "MOVE !" I start to walk backward slowly thinking maybe I can do this... then the thing is like 5-7 feet and closing at me. I start mumbling "Think backward, use the force." Well I give it a good dose of left cyclic because everyone is on my left side ( at this time I knew it was gonna crash, just had to make sure it was not gonna hit anyone) Well as I stand there and time slows down even more, it goes into a bush 4 feet off to my right side at head level. Leaves start flying everywhere ! She falls outta the tree and lands on her side still running. Man it looked ugly. After lighting a smoke and looking around. A feeling of relief comes over me. Everyone is ok ! I then shut off the motor and start to look at the dead bird. Hmm, I don't see any damage. A friend that did not see the crash yells "You'd better get back on that horse before you don't ever do it again." Hmm, I think it will fly. So I straighten out the main and tail rotor blades, fire it up, and she came off the ground again, only for a short hover mind you, I was way shaking in my shoes. As I start the post flight inspection I lost a little covering on the main rotor blades, but I am just starting. After talking to a friend of mine who was a little calmer than me and saw the whole thing, he said it looked like I was trying to land controlled in the tree (which I was aiming for the tree but to me it looked like I slammed into it main rotor first.)

Just thought I'd share

Well yeah he normally recommends you strap on the gear and learn to hover nose in in a lightning storm, but I filtered that out for you.

I had basically the same happen to me last week as you did. Unfortuatley I had a lot of damage to the bird and other objects. You can check out my post "Bad Crash" in the raptor section.

It a scary feeling when its comming at you and you can't think!
