I have two Hirobo-related questions. First, is there an aftermarket driven tail rotor system available for the Shuttle? Considering the design of the drivetrain, I would venture to guess that it wouldn't be cost-effective to develope such a system. But it never hurts to ask, right?

Second, what is the proper pronouniciation of "Sceadu"? I'm considering buying one, but refuse to until I can say its name! Is it "Skee-Doo", "Shoo-Doe", "Skay-Doo" or what?

(Edited . .. ) Just noticed that you were looking for a driven tail for the Shuttle, not Sceadu - never mind . . .

There is post buried somewhere here where someone had the whole explanation on the how, who, where and why of that name......if I recall properly it's pronounced...."Shadow". Has something to do with a Japaneese god or warrior or this vague enough????
I know I've heard serveral ways....mostly ski-doo but I don't think that is correct.

You can get a Slipper Clutch setup for the Shuttles. That would give you a driven tail! However many say it's not needed on a 30 size ship. Robs too much power from the Main Rotor. Rick's has them!!

The reps that went to the Hirobo factory all pronounced it is "Scar- Dee" If you have communicated with a Japanese, before most probably this will be three syllable ie "Sir-Car-Dee", but spoken quickly
This has something to to do with "Katakana" characters that they developed after WW2 so that they can learn English.

Whatever it is called, it is a very nice bird, and I like this bird so much that I will usually refuel and fly (well... hover) again immediately .

Still very shaky FF after 18mth away from heli, %^$# !

Japan pronouces the model as "Skiddy" though I cannot understand that one myself. ) as it is spelled sceadu. ?

The English or Norse pronunciation is "shadow" which makes sense. US US'rs pronounce it as "skadoo"

At least that has been the norm.

I have no idea how it should be pronounced.

But whenever I refer to the Sceadu, I pronounce it like "sea do" or "see due."

I don't think Sceadu is a Japanese word to begin with. So pronouncing it like the Japanese would is wrong. There's a really popular Jet Ski also called the Sceadu, and most guys who have it pronounce it like above.

I think "shadow" would be the next closest correct one. Anyone speaks Norse? They would have the correct pronunciation
