I've got Hitec HS-625MG's on the cyclic of my Rap 30. After about five gallons of mild flying the geartrain has developed quite a bit of backlash. I've got new gears coming @ about $17 per set. The servos have been satisfactory otherwise, but this is too high a maintenance cost. I've never had them open so I don't know if the gears were lubed or not. I'm thinking of replacing with 9202's

Hitec servos
Tom;
I've got a couple of the similar 605's in an airplane and had a similar experience in that the servos quickly develop a lot of play. I don't think these are very good servos regardless of the reliability concerns, but I understand the disclaimer had to do with the internal wiring breaking, leading to complete and probably catastrophic failure w/o warning. Thanks. Steve.

Steve,

I'll know more when I install the gear sets. I know metal gears will wear much faster than plastic. I'll be checking the wiring for proper strain relief and vibration protection while I'm in there. Maybe I'll have to donate these Hitec's to a plank flyer
