I have 401/9254 in my EVO. Recently, I have entered inverted things but when I made (back or forward) flip-over into inverted hover or hover, I alwasy had to give a correction with left input of rudder stick.
I thought that it was phase problem at first but I always had to make a correction with left rudder input on both backward and forward flip-over.
I have adjusted length of rudder control rod so I have neutral tail during hovering(1650RPM) and slow drift to right side(Head moves to right side) on higher RPM(1750-1900) with rate mode.
Should I keep trying to fix with adjusting somthing or get GY601?
I know Santa has prepared Nikon D70 for me so I don't think Santa has spare 601 for me.

You shouldn't get a drift at a slightly higher headspeed. What gain are you running at? what size blades? what hole are you using on the servo arm?

There is no drift with HH mode but rate mode on high RPM.
I have tried 60 and 70 on HH mode, 60 on rate mode.
92mm CF carbontech tail blades with freya tail grips and last hole on "X" futaba horn.
Tail is locked during backward flyght.
What should I start to look?
Thanks.

There's you problem then, don't fly in rate mode I think you can put slightly longer blades on an evo but I'm not sure how big you can go. I had a similar problem with my rappy 60 with the 401 and ended up with a 601. I went through all the obvious, trimmed the rod in normal so no drift, 19mm hole on the servo are, everything 90 degrees, no slop but couldn't cure it.

Thanks Stephen,
But my problem is not a drift during normal, inverted or backward flight.
Drift happens only when I make flip-over even on HH mode (maybe other manuver which I've never dealt with).

That's why I said i think you can put slightly bigger blades on to give the tail a little more authority. I know a couple peoplr running 95's on evo's but I don't know how much clearance there is on the mains. You could try to increase the gain alittle

Do a search first this has been gone over many times. You obviously don't know the difference between rate mode and heading hold. The gyro reaction is normal. Rate mode only stops the movement from going more, heading hold knows where the spot was and returns to that spot. Chris

yep, use HH... the cyclic input is creating more counter torq and a rate mode gyro can't deal with this effectively. You can use a revo mix for the counter torq of collective input, but for cyclic there's nothing you can do but use a HH gyro and use cyclic to throttle mixing to keep the engine from bogging.

I alwasy use HH and had no problem with 401 before I started to flip my Evo Over.(from hover into inverted hover or from inverted hover into hover) I mentioned a slow drift because I tought that it could be a clue for you about my problem( drift right side only during back/forward flip-over in HH mode) I'm having. I guess, If engine bogs or less authority on tail, heli would drift left. Am I right? And my evo has plenty of power( OS50 Hyper and I'm using CP30%).
Thanks all input. I will try to adjust rod and horn size again and will play with gain more.
Hope there were two X-mas's in December.
