I just ordered my TRex and some upgrades from Wes @ Modefo's and am going shopping for the rest of the gear and am wondering what some of you experienced heli flyers think of my shopping list....

Hitec Optic 6 TX, Futaba GY401 gyro, HS 55 servos, Hitec 555 micro RX and a couple Great Planes 1500mah 11.1v LiPo's

I already have a Great Planes Triton with the thermal probe for charging

hi
from what i know you will not be able to use the 555 rx as the pitch is on ch 6 and the 401 gyro needs to plug in between the rx and the servo >and< into channel 5 , im pretty sure you will need all six channels , i didnt look into the tx you mentioned but it should be a heli radio , ill check it out and get back to you

hi
i just checked out the optic and it is heli so that would be ok , if you could swing the hitec eclipse for $30.00 more you would be a lot better off in the long run , since you wont crash the tx its a good idea to get the best one you can and the eclipse has a great reputation , and if you get hooked on the hobby , and you will , as you progress you will be glad to have a tx that doesnt limit you

You batteries are too wide and don't have enough power (12A). I ordered the Thunder Power TP2100. They fit nice and put out (25A) This helicopter is a little heavy and from all that I have read it seems your batteries may over heat if you don't have a strong enough pack. I had that problem with my shogun with 1500ma packs. Your radio (555 RX) won't work. You need a radio with 6 channels. If you use a GY240 you can use a Hitec HFS-05MG it has channels 1 2 3 4 _ 6. If you use the GY401 you need all 6 channels 1 2 3 4 5 6. Channel 5 for the gyro. I got the HFS-05MG at tower hobbies for around $33.00 the GY240 can be had on ebay new for around $99 almost every day. For a radio TX I got the Futaba 7CH from servocity.com for about $170.00 I love that radio and would buy it again.
